Instead, the day was overshadowed by her acknowledgment Tuesday that she suffers chronic migraine attacks — an issue that threatened to spiral out of control as the media sought more details about a potentially debilitating condition.

I don't like Bachmann, and I think she's a quack. I shudder at the mere thought of her sitting in the Oval Office. I disagree with her on virtually every policy question I've heard her speak on: taxes, budget reform, entitlement reform, healthcare, abortion, gay marriage, and more. I am calmed only by the notion that I don't think she has a hope in hell of actually gaining the GOP nomination let alone winning in a general election.

Having said all that -- this migraine stuff is ridiculous. We had a President (FDR) who was bound to a wheelchair due to polio who led us through the Depression and WWII. We had a President (Lincoln) who suffered clinical depression who led the Union through the trials of the Civil War. The idea that migraine headaches should disqualify a candidate for Office is bizarre to me. I know migraine sufferers. Our IT director gets bouts of them - with bursts of dazzling bright light that periodically confine him to bed. And yet he oversees a 24X7 trading operation and I can't imagine a non-migraine sufferer doing a better job than he. Bachmann stated that her headaches don't interfere with her job function. I take her at her word. I don't like her and despise the political views she stands for. But I have compassion for the pain she must suffer from her headaches, I wish her the best in dealing with them, and I wouldn't let this issue influence my views on her candidacy in any way.

Headaches are the least of Bachmans problems.
