I searched for the answer to this question, but I couldn't find anything, so maybe someone can shed some light on this issue for me regarding the I-864. I live with my two parents and my husband (4 people in the house). The house is in my father's name (I think...) and my mother has a job, I have a job, my father collects disability benefits and my husband just got a job. My question is in regard to the "Sponsor's Household Size" section of the document. Technically my household size is 4 people (i.e. people I'm related to through marriage or birth), but I am not responsible for financially supporting my parents; I make well over the poverty guideline for a household of 2 people (my husband and I) but I don't know whether to put down 4 people or just two. I mean, 4 people physically reside with me, but I don't have financially responsibility for two of them.

My parents ARE going to be co-sponsors, but I'm just not sure about this question -- I don't want to mislead anyone by making them think I'm responsible for a household of 4 people when I'm not, but I also don't want to mislead them by making them think that I only live with my husband and no one else.

So... what's the correct way to respond to this question?

Thank you so much in advance -- I apologize if the answer to this question is sitting right in front of me but I just missed it.

hi Karen_L

just read the I-864 slowly........... answer to your question on how to calulate the household size is clearly mentioned their...... your spouse and any dependents or childrens below the age of 21 constitutes your household size.........so if in your tax return you have not mentioned your parents then your household size is two(2) you and your husband.
