Hi everyone,

We're currently going through the final stages of application for Visa for the USA through the London embassy. I received packet 3 a couple of weeks ago, and we've been waiting to get the Affadavit of Support documents back from the US to proceed.

We now have these en-route (arriving tomorrow), and we're perparing all necessary documents as set out in Packet 3 (well, in the website link on the sheet in packet 3!)

So far, we have the following:

  • DS-230 Part I
  • DS-230 Part II
  • Police Certificate
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Applicant's Birth Certificate
  • Spouse's Birth Certificate
  • 3 x Applicant Photos
  • Notification of Applicant Readiness document
  • Applicant's Passport
  • Spouse's Passport

It is not fully clear which information we should send in, and which information we should bring with us to the Embassy for the interview. Could someone please let me know what exactly we need to send and what we need to bring on the day only.

In addition to this list, we will also be mailing a cover letter with:

  • Email Address
  • Dates of Travel
  • Medical Appointment Date (already had medical appointment)

Thanks for the help!

From the website instructions http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

It is important that you take action immediately and return the Application for Immigration and Alien Registration, Form DS-230-1 Part 1 and Notification of Applicant(s) Readiness, Form DS-2001 to the Immigrant Visa Unit. Note: The failure to return the forms promptly will delay the processing of your application.

Before returning Form DS-2001, you are required to assemble all of the documents required in support of your application.
Note: These documents must not be mailed to the Embassy;
you will be required to furnish the original of all documents and one copy on the day of the formal visa interview.

Return the forms by mail and take documents to the interview

Yeah, I thought that was the case, but I phoned the expensive helpline to double check (like a week ago, when we were organising the Affardavit of Support information) and they seemed to think I should send the I-864 in with the other forms.

Can you clarify on this please?

Can you clarify on this please?

I can't verify anything but what the website instructions say. Can you make a timeline please to verify you filed for a CR1 DCF?

DCF processes differently. Other CR1s send their I-864s to the NVC, but if you're on DCF then you'll bring documents to the interview since you skip the NVC part.

The phone people are notorious for giving misleading information, so I dunno.

Look on this page http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/immediate-relatives.html on the right are two links. Follow the one that says "Filing a Petition in London" which means DCF.

At the bttom of the linked page it says

For beneficiaries residing in the UK: If you have questions concerning the second part of the processing (Immigrant Visa Processing); you can visit http://london.usembassy.gov/ivprocess.html or alternatively, you may contact the Customer Call Centre at 09042-450-100 (calls cost £1.23/min plus any network extras).

And that's the link I put in the first post.
