Perry and Bush aren't exactly allies right now. I don't know if you've been following. Perry won't be Bush, he'll be something different entirely.

I don't know. Bush was a big spender. Perry not so much.

The only thing we'd have to worry about Perry is that contracts end up going to his friends instead of a proper bidding process.

Outside of that, he's tame and quiet. It's why he keeps getting re-elected here. A lot of people may not like him (myself included) but there's far worse we could do.

I'll take Perry over Bachman or Palin any day of the week.

#1 - If our government was a company, it would have been put out of business 15 years ago.

#2 - American Airlines isn't deeply in debt and still actually posts a profit during certain quarters.

#3 - American Airlines doesn't force your pocket book open and pry money out of it for them to function. Their sales/revenue come from people choosing to use their service and their 'debt' if any comes from another private entity, not the taxpayers.

#4 - If a business was in the amount of debt the US Government was in, they'd file for chapter 11 protections and then possibly be forced to sell off some of their company and liquidate some of their assets.

I do say the government should be treated like a business or a household. However it's far from being treated like one and to try and make that comparison now by asking for more spending is ridiculous and you know it.

So therefore the government should do the same thing? YES!

First, the government should sell SHARES of its stock to provide its capital and eliminate any ability to TAX people who are not using government services. Then they should charge FEES for services which are offered in COMPETITION with other providers of the same services and END any government monopolies of any services. We should be able to go to large facilities where the companies offering these services compete openly and fairly and decide which provider we want to use based on SERVICE and PRICE, just like we can do with airlines and other private business.

Imagine how that might improve, for example, the visa processing business. I am sure the government would LOVE to operate under such conditions.
