A friend of mine (not me, I promise  ) recently got her US citizenship, so now she has decided to petition to have her parents move here from Peru. I told her that of course I would help her fill the forms in, but I think I overestimated my own intelligence because I have a few questions.

Firstly - just to verify, she has to do separate forms for both of them, right? Separate I-130s and separate Affidavits of Support? But on each of them, she lists the other parent as well... Yes? It is slightly confusing, especially part 9 of the Affidavit where it asks you to list other family members being sponsored within six months, but not on a separate visa. I mean, does she list her mother on her father's one? Or does his I-130 count as a separate visa?

And they are in Peru, so she puts that as their mailing address on the I-864, presumably. Not her own address.

And... I'm sure she asked me more questions, but I can't seem to remember them now. This is a good start anyway. I've filed for myself, but it turns out it's pretty different for parents. Especially when I'm not the one filing, so I'm trying to remember what she was asking me. D'oh! :bonk:

hi

yes your friend must file the I-130 form separately..and the I-864 AOS is not needed until the petition was approve

I-864 AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT

PART 2-INFORMATION ON THE PRINCIPAL IMMIGRANT=PUT THE MAILING ADDRESS OF HER PARENTS

PART 3-INFORMATION ON THE IMMIGRANT YOU ARE SPONSORING

#8-CHECK-i am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in part 2 above and check YES

leave the #9 uncheck since the petition is in separate form

#10-put 1 only if the form is for her mom..and 1 for her dad in different form

Part 5-HOUSEHOLD SIZE

if shes married and had child she need to count all

EXAMPLE

1-herself

1-husband

1-child

1-for dad

Total of 4

and same total also in the other affidavit of support

good luck..im sure if i did wrong somebody will help you here
