I thought it might be nice to have a thread of small/short uplifting things (ie. quotes, pictures) for those who are down and out (wether it be over the visa process or in their personal lives). I can't find any quotes from Qur'an but maybe these will be a good beginning... Any others you all wish to add would be great (F)

Help me to remember Lord, that nothing's gonna happen today that you and me can't handle together.

I still know quite certainly, that just to be alive is a grand thing.

By perseverance, even the snail reached the ark.

What you feel, is what you are, and what you are is Beautiful (i almost cried when i read this one)

Remember to hand back to God what you are not able to handle. Do your best, then hand it back, for the rest is not yours to handle. It will be worked out for you.

Fear holds us and binds us and keeps us from growing. It kills a small piece of us each day. It holds us to what we know and keeps us from what's possible and it is our worst enemy. Fear doesn't announce itself. It's disguised, and it's subtle.

A little boy was having difficulty lifting a heavy stone. His father came along just then. Noting the boy’s failure, he asked, "Are you using all your strength?"

"Yes, I am," the little boy said impatiently.

"No, you are not," the father answered. "I am right here just waiting, and you haven’t asked me to help you

Therefore, when we think we have given it all we've got....someone is always there to help us find more strength (F)

Ya Allah

Today, Upon a bus,

I saw a girl with golden hair,

and wished I was as fair.

When suddenly she rose to leave

I saw her hobble down the aisle.

She had one leg and wore a crutch,

but as she passed, a smile.

Ya Allah, forgive me when I whine,

I have two legs, the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.

The lad who sold it had such charm.

I spoke with him, he seemed so glad.

If I were late, It'd do no harm.

As I left, he said to me,

"I thank you, You've been so kind,

It's nice to talk with folks like you,

You see," he said, "I am blind"

Ya Allah, forgive me when I whine,

I have two eyes the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,

I saw a child when eyes of blue.

She stood and watched the others play,

she did not know what to do.

I stopped a moment and then I said,

"Why don't you join the others, dear?"

She looked ahead without a word.

Ya Allah, forgive me when I whine,

I have two ears, the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go,

with eyes to see the sunset's glow,

With ears to hear what I'd know.

Ya Allah, forgive me when I whine,

I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

So this is the stuff that is helping me right now:
