Hello everyone! I just was wondering if anyone had similar problem. I sent our certified marriage certificate with apostle but I got a letter from NVC stating they want original instead of that one. I checked requirements again and it's clearly states "original or certified copy" . After we got marry in Turkey the marriage bureau gave us red booklet of original marriage certificate and for me to take back to states certified with Apostle. So I'm really confused why they don't accept it. When I called today they said supervisor will review it but it will take up to 2 wks.

Well, the original is in Turkey with my husband, it will just take time again for mail delivery. But I just don't get it why they can not except certified apostle marriage certificate. And of course he'll bring original to interview.

in my case i am married to an american citizen ,and we have two originals marriage certificates one for me and one for her.

Well I'm American citizens and we got married at his country/Turkey. At marriage bureau they gave us marriage license looking like a red book with our pictures. Also, they gave us certified marriage certificate with apostle. The lady said I can use it in states to do his visa documents, so when I left Turkey let him keep the red booklet marriage license and took with me certified one. And that's why I'm upset they don't accept it. My husband have no problem sending me another one. It's just makes us sad loosing time over it, especially when it's clearly states on their website they accept certified certificates.thx

We sent our red booklet in. We had the marriage translations done before I left and I sent the copy and the translations in the I-130 packet, but when we were sending the documents to NVC we sent the red booklet in. Don't worry about the time too much. After my husband filled out the forms and assembled the DS-230 he mailed everything over here (either DHL or UPS, I can't remember) and they arrived within a week.

Good luck on the rest of your journey and come visit us at the Turk Kahvesi thread if you have any questions!
