The example in this guide is filing the I-130 and I-485 separately. Should i have to make two separate packets? I have read other people on this site filing concurrently. Is there a guide that makes filing concurrently easier to sort out. Or maybe some sort of check list.

Also if filing concurrently do I only need 1 cover letter for everything? any good links to cover letters or maybe a pic of your own cover.

I think we are really close to being done. It is just a matter of assembling it and tying up lose ends.

thanks

That guide is for a concurrent package. It just suggests organizing it separately so as to not get too confused. You send it in all together. Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

We sent our entire package off together, the I-130 processes through-out your entire AOS case. When ours was filing, we received the first notice of action for all of them, then was able to check up online for the I-485, but the I-130 was never available for viewing online (strange)...

WE DID NOT SEND A COVER LETTER....************

You will send;

I-130 PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE (FILLED IN BY WIFE)

I-485 ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS (FILLED IN BY YOU)

I-864 AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT (FILLED IN BY WIFE)

I-693 (SEALED ENVELOPE MUST BE DONE BY CIVIL SURGEON) ((FILLED BY CIVIL SURGEON))

I-765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION (FILLED IN BY YOU)

FEE PAYMENT IN CHECK OR MONEY ORDER FORM, MADE PAYABLE TO: DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

2 x PASSPORT STYLE PHOTOS, TAKEN WITHIN 30 DAYS OF YOUR APPLICATION

A PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR I-94 FROM THE LAST ENTRY TO UNITED STATES

A PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR PASSPORT PHOTO I.D AND THE STAMPED PAGE OF YOUR LAST ENTRY TO UNITED STATES

A COPY OF YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE (IF IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGE SEND ORIGINAL AND CERTIFIED TRANSLATION)

IF ANY PAST CONVICTIONS SEND ANY EVIDENCE OF POLICE CLEARANCE

A CERTIFIED COPY OF YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

FOR THE I-864 YOU HAVE TO SEND IN TAX RETURNS AND PAY STUBS OF THE LAST YEAR OR TWO YEARS. IT IS ALSO GOOD TO HAVE A LETTER OF PROOF OF EMPLOYMENT WHICH SHOULD BE SIGNED BY MANAGER / OWNER OF BUSINESS. SEND COPIES OF ALL W-2s AND ANY COLLEGE TAX SLIPS. THIS ALL HELPS.

~~ IF SOMEONE IS CO-SPONSORING YOU (I-864A) YOU SHOULD SEND IN PROOF OF ABILITY TO SPONSOR YOU. I.E ANY ASSETS.

FOR THE I-693 IT IS BEST TO OBTAIN AS MUCH OF YOUR PAST MEDICAL HISTORY AS POSSIBLE BEFORE GOING FOR THE APPOINTMENT, ALSO A COPY OF YOUR VACCINATION RECORDS. THIS WILL HELP YOU, THE CIVIL SURGEON AND YOUR WIFE GET IT OVER WITH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. YOU WILL HAVE VACCINATIONS BLOOD TESTS AND A "PPD" TEST, THIS IS TO TEST FOR TUBERCULOSIS. IF IT SHOWS A REACTION, BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR AN X-RAY.

THE I-765 YOU CAN SUBMIT AT THE SAME TIME AS THE REST OF THE PACKAGE, BUT I SENT IT IN A LITTLE LATER, WHEN I RECEIVED THE I-485 NOTICE OF ACTION RECEIPT.

** DO NOT WORRY IF YOU CAN'T FIND YOUR I-94/W, JUST PHOTOCOPY YOUR PASSPORT STAMPED PAGE AND YOUR PHOTO I.D IN YOUR PASSPORT. (THIS IS WHAT I DID...) **

I think I covered everything.

Most importantly, don't stress out about any of this, nothing is worse than working yourself and your wife/husband over this. As long as you haven't killed anyone, committed terrorism you should be fine. But if you had any convictions relating to drugs and violence, be cautious because the Interviewing Officer has the authority to deny your application.

GOOD LUCK! HAVE FUN AND MAKE SURE YOU SEND EVERYTHING OFF.
