Police Clearance and Cenomar

I was preparing my documents before the interview. Though were still waiting for NVC. But then, I just want to be prepared before the big day.

Is it really necessary to get a police clearance for every place you lived or you can get one from the recent residency you have now?

It seems that some who had interview presented only NBI clearance and not Police clearance.

Is it also required for every beneficiary to present a CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage)? Or is it only required for someone who had an annulment?

Please Enlighten me. Thanks :)

Based on USEM site, both NBI and Police clearance are required, I just don't know if u need to get Police clearance to every places u lived in.....as for cenomar, I think it is really necessary to bring it on the interview and if u are annulled, u will required to present the annulment papers....but best if u call USEM for the requirements for certain...:)

Thanks for that. I just read some reviews for those who had their interview and usually they request only the following:

-Passport

-Birth Cert

-NBI

-CENOMAR

-I-134

-2010 ITR and W-2

I was just confused about the CENOMAR, though I've never been married. I think it's really a requirement.

I confirm to one VJ member who just finished interview and she said that police clearance is not required to those who have not work outside the country.. just the NBI is the requirements and the CENOMAR is really a requirement for K1 applicants.

Yup, I just asked someone I know who just had her interview, she said police clearance is not necessary as long as you have the NBI clearance but yeah, cenomar is definitely one of the requirements....I think u can get both ur birth certificate and CENOMAR at any SM branches now, u don't need to go to NSO offices for those....

Exactly

according to the K-1 packet from the embassy's site:

f. NBI CLEARANCE. Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year from the date it was issued. The NBI web site is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

g. OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s web site at http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html.

Two separate paragraphs on the requirement. I dont know how this gets mixed up. (actually I do) Even when you to the reciprocity table it says that NBI is the only one needed for the philippines. Although, dont worry, I had the same question and we did get the police clearance from the PI too. I know for me I was reading through the requirements and if you dont pay attention, you end up missing it like I did.

If you worked or lived abroad for more than 6 months, you need a police clearance from that country. If not and you were just here in the Philippines, NBI clearance will do. Better get it now coz it takes soooo long to get one already. CENOMAR is required to all K1 applicants.
