Hello all,

Last week I submitted the I-864 and DS-230 for my wife following the shortcuts/guides posted on VJ. However, I just found out about the DS-2001. Do I need to submit this too? If so, how should I send this now knowing that I've already sent the DS-230 packet.

Or does my wife to submit this wife to the HCM Consulate as part of her submissions (i.e. medical exam) to the consulate?

Please advise. Thanks!

Hello all,

Please advise. Thanks!

Usually DS 2001 is if you did DCF and the beneficiary can appear in the interview with DS 2001. This is not something required at all for IR1/CR1.

I don't know about other countries, but this is not the case at the consulate in HCMC.

The DS-2001 is a simple form which the applicant sends to the consulate to notify them that they are ready to be scheduled for a visa interview. It's included in packet 3.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Jim,

So if I understand you correctly, my wife will submit the DS-2001 to HCMC consulate along with her medical/health exam and other docs that are part of the Packet 3? Thus, we're okay for now?

Thanks in advance!

OP - Once the case gets sent to the HCMC consulate, packet 3 gets sent to your fiancee. Once the DOS or Consulate confirm that it has been sent out you can download the forms and take them to the Consulate. My fiancee did this because she never received packet.

Packet 3 contains DS-230 and DS - 2001.

After packet 3 is received by Consulate, they send out packet 4 (just appointment letter) . Your fiancee can also pick up copy of letter.

I suggest you do justice record checks now because it takes about a month to get.

Best of luck!

DS-2001 is a form to notify the consulate that the applicant is ready to be interview. You don't send this in until you have all the require documents for interview. I emailed mine in.

The only things you return in response to packet 3 are the DS-2001 and DS-230, part 1. The consulate will schedule an interview and send packet 4. Everything else is brought to the interview.
