Believe it or not, like it or not, it is becoming more and more the norm that moms are breastfeeding their children beyond the 6- months or even the 1 year mark; because, contrary to you, they are educated about the benefits of breastfeeding even for an extended period of time.

The three years of maternity leave in Germany are very much helping mothers to keep nursing because they don't have the pressure to wean early because they have to go back to work and I know many american moms who would have loved to keep nursing but they just couldn't manage it time and jobwise.

Again, your statements are only based on your own opinion (which yes, we all know, you are entitled to have) and what you "think" is the norm. Please don't state those opinions as facts if you have nothing to back them up with.

If Why_Me has man boobs, would his opinion be more convincing?

Nope.

For a while I wasn't even aware that this was a man making those comments. The only difference for me is, I would be more saddened if a women had views like that...

Excuse me?

I can't find the part about being "taken seriously no matter how ridiculous ones speech is" in the First Amendment....

What if they were lactating man boobs?

What if they were lactating man boobs?

Are you going anywhere with these questions or are you just trying to distract from the discussion?

But to answer your question, no, his comments were not any more convincing even if "lactating man boobs" were involved.

It's about him trying to state his very uneducated views as facts.

:ot2: ? Thanks!

Better yet, back to the topic of the wannabe breastfeeding-teaching doll!

They sure aren't relevant to me, I just can't stand the rudeness and ignorance of his comments.

Maybe the few with issues...but not most moms. It's creepy weird to be breastfeeding a walking and talking two year old child (imo). Like way weird.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Here we have it folks, the arbiter of good taste. Gets women drunk in order to shag them in his truck, bangs his own cousin, has the hots for his MIL, frequented hookers.....and breastfeeding mommies are 'creepy weird'

Excuse me while I

None of that stacks up with some woman breast feeding a walking and talking two year old kid.

Ok, I assume you have never nursed a baby. So I give you the benefit of the doubt about the weirdness. When I irst heard about the extended breastfeeding, I thought too that must feel weird, for mom and/or baby.

Then I started nursing my son and it was everything BUT weird. Even when he was older and could walk and even started talking a little it felt very natural.

As well I'd like to state thatkids at that age don't nurse very often as they eat regular foods and drink milk, juice, tea,...

Sometimes it's even for comfort.

Like I said, it might seem weird, but as long as mom and child are cool with it, I don't think you should call anyone a freak or weirdo or even say they have issues just because it's beyond your imagination.

I am getting really tired of your insults.

I can handle the "weird" comments but don't say I am having issues because you can't grasp something.

I realize that. A personal weakness of mine to not accept insults. But you are right, I should have stuck to my earlier comment about being done with arguing with his ignorance.

Factoid: in ancient times, weaning was typically done between 2 and 3 years (and still is in many rural areas of "third world").
