I just find it hilarious when people get all mad at people who pay several times the amount of taxes that most people pay and yet people are all up in arms blaming those people for the fact the government doesn't have enough money.

It's pathetic.

First you tell us that there are a few billionaires. Then you reverse your field and tell us that they pay an inordinant amount of taxes. Which is it? What about the people who make $1M to $999M, how much taxes do they pay? The reason that the government doesn't have enough money is because of overspending on pork-barrel projects both civilian and military, a loss of tax revenue due to foolish tax cuts for the wealthy (the highest tax bracket is 29%, it used to be close to 90%) and offshore tax shelters allowing for corporations to reap the benefits of operating in the US without paying for it. Deferring taxes in perpetuity allows for the savvy to pay...nothing. That is what most of the wealthy do. In essence you are subsidizing the wealthy and the corporations. Steal from the poor and give to the rich.

I'm afraid you're wrong there. Trickle-down economics was espoused by Reagan. The criticism of it is exactly what people have been saying in this thread - that it doesn't 'trickle down' and instead creates loopholes that allow the very rich to evade paying their fair share.

Lets take Cheny for example... its not that he doesn't have enough money he just wants him and his friends to have MORE and a tax advantage as well. So he unfairly uses/used his position to sway idiotic congressmen and the general population to believe things like the DRUG WAR and the War on Immigrants etc, then they vote to increase tax expenditures to programs that take money away from legitimate social programs and decimate our society with idiotic ones at the same time reducing revenue and hoarding capital in the hands of the few elites. So a few thousand people can be millionaires and billionaires and sit on great hoardes of cash.

So now the school teacher,firefighter policemen that used to be our hero's..don't forget the union plumber and the guy on the assembly line are the 'enemy"" because they make a reasonable living and have GOD FORBID pensions in old age after working like dogs their entire lives. Now the problem is their greed knows no boundaries and they continue to dismantle the unions and the economy using cheap foreign labor to fuel the diabolical plan.

You really don't want to mess with these folks either because you become enemy #1 and end up in jail or unemployed. Look at union busting, first they move the plants to right to work states, then they solicit illegal labor and use the full force of the US Government (ICE) when there is the slightest hint of labor organization and deport everyone.. If they cannot get their way they take the ball and go to China or India.
