Now I'm confuse I thought we had to get the letter from NVC before we go to the Embassy. We can actually go directly to our Embassy and inquire or possibly get our case moving faster. In the NOA2 it does say in the bottom that the case is moving to NVC or Embassy. Can't that be possible. Does anyone know.

Thank you

What we did was call NVC everyday until I knew they mailed it out, then you can go pay your fee for the embassy. And make your appointment, most embassys have the instructions needed for the K1 interview on their website (like what to bring, what forms, where to do medical)

So you can just download the instructions, and follow them, all you need in Philippines for medical is the Interview Appointment Letter (which is emailed to you) and thats also all you need to get into the embassy on your appointment day, just make sure NVC has mailed the petition, the embassy will most likely have it within 10 days of NVC mailing it, but you don't actually have to wait on the embassy to mail you stuff.

It seems NVC is very back logged on sending out the notice that they received the petition from USCIS.

My fiancee has already gone to the embassy and been approved for her visa, and I still have not received anything from USCIS, I did call them, and they had my case 10 days after NOA2, but I never received the hard copy they said they mailed to me.

Also, sometimes USCIS send the petition directly to the consulate (Embassy) , make sure you read the NOA2 carefully.

Hope this helps.

Sure, that helps... Now I know not to wait for the NVC to mail me anything and should continue to call to get status.

The issue at hand however for those of us in this thread is that either USCIS really isn't sending things out quickly or that NVC is slowing down at processing them, no way to know which exactly. Our NOA2 clearly said they were sending it to NVC. It also said to wait 30 days before contacting NVC for status. My call to them after 23 days was probably a bit optimistic, based on almost everyone's timelines here on VJ showing that NVC gets the packets within about 1 week and turns them around about 1 week later. I guess the graph "K1 I-129F NOA2 to NVC Receive Date History" shows the trend of the time this process takes going up quite clearly. It has doubled from around 7 days to 15 days within the past two months, and no such spike last year between May and August:

Morgan, the contractor for NVC replied this morning:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to locate your approved petition. USCIS has informed the NVC, that your petition is en route to the NVC. Once we have received your petition, the appropriate agent will receive further instructions within 6 to 8 weeks.

Sincerely,

Morgan

This prompted the following questions from me:

  1. Is my inquiry closed or still open? Should I expect any further updates from you to answer my original questions? Will I need to keep pestering the people on the phone to get the NVC case number for this application?
  2. Please clarify what you mean by "appropriate agent"? Do you mean an NVC Employee or Contractor? The Petitioner? The Beneficiary? I'm just trying to understand which party can expect to receive these instructions.

I did not ask about the 6-8 week time mentioned. I'm fairly certain it is part of their standard response script. There is so far no evidence to suggest that NVC is suddenly taking longer to process approved K-1 Applications when they actually get them, at least from everyone's timeline on here (more impetus to keep those things updated :)

K1 I-129F NVC Processing Time History

By the way, I apologize for concentrating on and re-posting the graphs, but I spent about 5 years in my career reading internet performance graphs all day and analyzing trends in the data... Looking at everyone else's timelines makes me feel less helpless and clueless about the process, even without good information about our own application.

If you got this email, it means you will get the case # very soon, probably in a week time. I got the same email from NVC and after 3 days I got the case #. Don't stop calling them. The graph you post, I think it is not relevant for the recent NVC timeline. NVC is taking almost a month to release the case # for the petition which is approved after mid June. And you are one of them. Be patient, you will get it soon.

Good luck

Hmmm, I emailed the NVC last week inquiring about when we would get more information about our case being received by the NVC.

Received an email today from them stating the following: (copy and pasted the email, x'd out the "sensitive information")

--------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC has completed its processing of the visa petition you mentioned in your letter and has recently been forwarded to the US Embassy/Consulate General. Please allow 10-15 business days for the Embassy/Consulate General to receive the petition.

As this petition is no longer located at the NVC you must resubmit your inquiry or request, and all future correspondence to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General noted below. Also, please be sure to notify the Embassy or Consulate General of any change of postal mail or e-mail address, or any change in personal situation that may affect the applicant's entitlement to a visa.

Please visit www.usembassy.gov to determine the contact information for the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate General. The individual Embassy or Consulate General website will include contact information for visa related inquiries.

I'm a bit confused by this. I assumed I was going to receive a casenumber from them, but I didn't get it with this email.

What should be my next step? Contact the embassy in The Netherlands and go from there, or try NVC first again to get the casenumber?

Hopefully someone can shed a light on this for me because I might be missing something here.

Thanks in advance! :-)

We got NOA2 on July 11th but then on the 25th we got this email:

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On July 25, 2011, a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

We called NVC and they said they got our approved case then they send it back for review and we have to contact USCIS for more info. Then when we contact USCIS they didn't give us any reason why our case got sent back and told us to wait for 120 days. It took us 6 months to get NOA2 now they told us to wait for another 120 days. Anyone have any suggestion?

I think it might help you if you set up an appointment with the InfoPass and check with them. It is very strange thing to have it sent back to the USCIS after the approval. I hope it is for a very minor thing.

Good luck
