I'm a part-time paid freelance writer, and just arrived in the US on a K-1 visa. Does it violate any rule if I continue to write for publications based in my home country (Phiilippines) while waiting to file/receive my EAD?

Dec 05, 2011: Received U.S. permanent resident status (AOS based on K-1 visa)

Dec 16, 2013: Removal of conditions on green card

Apr 28, 2015: Became a U.S. Citizen

Legally, working remotely for a foreign employer and being paid foreign currency to a foreign account is a bit of a grey area. Nothing specifically says you can't. It's kind of grouped into the same laws as business travel and working while on vacation, and those laws are not heavily or regularly enforced.

I think, pragmatically, if you could do it while on vacation to the US without getting in trouble, you can do it as a K-1 entrant before you get your EAD.

It goes without saying, of course, that working for a US employer is right out.
