Wow, congratulations! You've had quite a journey!

Yeah, there's no specific IR-2 sub-forum yet. However, almost everything that applies to IR-1 applies to IR-2. I petitioned my stepdaughter last June, and she was approved this past January. It is very fulfilling once you complete this long, and tiresome, process. But you will eventually get there!

Good luck with the medical exam! I agree with another VJ member, Tahoma, that it is not necessary to go to SLEC early in the morning. We went at about 9AM, and there was NO waiting line. Just another suggestion against going so early in the morning. Also, another piece of advice for the interview day. Please make sure you have extra signed copies of USCIS forms (DS-230). During prescreening, USEM asked me for another signed DS-230 form. Luckily, I brought copies of everything...and I mean EVERYTHING. IMHO, it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Good luck with the medical and interview! Keep us posted! God bless! (F)

Thank you so much Markieboy for your reply and adviced to have an extra copy of DS-230. I will send email to my daughter containg the copy of DS-230 and give her instruction to sign it, along with other documents that we prepared. When we received the appointment letter we checked the check list we thought that everything was fine beacause we sent out all the requirement and they received it already thats why our case completed. Like what you said "It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". Anyway I instructed my daughter to make an album or a kind of portfolio heres the contents of the portfolio that she made 1. Birth Certificate from NSO 2. School record 3. Money Remittance. 4. Chat Logs and Emails 5.Photos(of us together)and I told her dont volunteer to show it unless they ask for it.

My friends daughter came here last January she said her daugheter w/ her untie brought all the original documents of her daughter during the interview and the pre-screener did not asked any documents from them she asked only the pictures.

Anyway can you tell me what are questions did the Pre-screener and the Consul Officer asked to your stepdaughter during interview? my daughter is 14 yrs old and I'm not able to come with her during her interview due to work but my brother as her guardian will be there for her. Pls! pray for her mighty and successful interview so she can celebrate her 15th bday the 1st of September :dance::dance:

Thanks in advance... God bless u all!

Sounds great! I agree with not divulging any information unless asked.

Yes, during the pre-screening, the person asked me for pictures, as well. I brought about 10-12 photos. They were taken over the course of about three years. The prescreener asked me, "Where and when did you meet her mother?" He asked my stepdaughter, "What grade are you in now?" It seemed like just small talk...nothing too serious. When we were interviewed by the CO, the questions were more directed at me (the petitioner). The CO asked, "What do you do for a living?" "How long have you been working at your present job?" "What does your wife do for a living?" "How often do you visit the Philippines?" That was about it. No questions were directed at my 15-year-old stepdaughter. The CO was mainly concerned with my financial situation. So from what I gather, their only concern is that the beneficiary will not be a charge to the state.

How is the relationship between your daughter and your husband? Does your daughter know personal details? Like when and where you and your husband met? Date of your wedding anniversary? Husband's date of birth? These are not required, but I'm sure it will help come interview time.

Again, good luck with everything! BTW, how did her medical go?

Update for my daughter medical exam. My brother sent me a msge last night that the St, Lukes Doctor apologized becoz they did not give a skin TB test for my daughter on the first day of her medical they usually did to all the patients . Yesterday they gave my daughter a shot and told them to come back again on Friday, Thats why I wonder and keep asking my daughter if she really did'nt give any shot? its rediculous! and instead 2 days medical now its 3.

Hmm...they usually do chest xray before doing a skin TB test. I hope the "shot" they were referring to was, in fact, the immunizations.

Hi, I'd like to ask Cel&Arch:

What form did you use for the Affidavit of Support? Was it I-864w for your stepdaughter or just the I-864? I need to know so my husband can fill it out for the IR-2 of our son.

Thanks a lot!

Hmm...they usually do chest xray before doing a skin TB test. I hope the "shot" they were referring to was, in fact, the immunizations.

For children under a certain age they will try the skin test first so they can avoid exposing them to x-rays if possible. With the Skin test they require you to return in 2 days not the next day so they can check the injection site.

If the skin test is positive then they will do the x-ray. Kind of stupid in a country where kids get the BCG (maybe initials are wrong?) at a young age.

Hi, I'd like to ask Cel&Arch:

What form did you use for the Affidavit of Support? Was it I-864w for your stepdaughter or just the I-864? I need to know so my husband can fill it out for the IR-2 of our son.

Thanks a lot!

My lawyer filled it up and signed by my husband was Affidavit of Support I-864

Thanks! Early on, I got an advice from a fellow VJ to fill up I-864w for our child. I have to research more on it, though. Im really having a hard time coz there are only a few threads here about IR-2. Anyway, I will just ask around here until I will get the best answer. Thanks a lot!
