OMG! I was just told that in order for my Filipina wife to get her visa approved to come here to the US :crying: I must show a bank statement balance of atleast $10,000!. OMG, I don't have anywhere near that! If that is the case, I guess I will be going to live in the Philippines! Can someone give me a clear answer to this question?

Greetings!

That is not true! Once you get the approval notice from USCIS here in the States all you got to do is send your affidavit of support I-134 back it up with the ff: current pay stub, bank statement, latest w-2, latest income tax return.

note: DO NOT BELIEVED IN THAT! YOU TELL YOUR WIFE THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND EVERYTHING IS BEING NOTED.

The I-134 is intended to show proof that your wife will not become a public charge. You must provide 'enough' proof, as writen in the instructions of the form.

However, when your wife arrives, she will apply to adjust status and you must prove that you meet the poverty guidelines using form I-864. Here are the current guidelines:

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/for...iles/I-864p.pdf

If you do not meet these guidelines, you will need a co-sponsor. Some Embassies do not accept co-sponsors, however, and I don't recall whether your wife's is one of them.

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

pendleton_boy,

Can't answer the question you asked without knowing the rest of your financial situation. You've got to have money somewhere, somehow.

But, if you are otherwise in sufficiently good financial condition, then you do not need to have any money in the bank. Immigration law does not mandate that a sponsor must have money deposited in a bank account.
