Ok, here's my situation. I came to Japan on a temp 6 month Visa over 2 years ago. During that time, I met and fell in love with an incredible guy. He's an American in the Air Force here in Tokyo. We will be getting married very soon and once that is done, my status here in Japan will be okay. My problem is that next year he is scheduled to leave Japan and perhaps return to the US. He has spoken with personnel at his base and they fear that because I am in Japan without a proper visa, we may run into problems receiving approval for an immigrant visa to the states. One problem mentioned was that my original passport was seized by my employers and returned to the Philippines. I am being told that I must have this passport along with my new passport. Has any of you ever experienced a situation like this??? Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know how and where I can retreive my old passport. Thanks again...

I wish I had better news for you but in my opinion you will have big problems. My fiance is a Filipina who is a legal resident in Japan. We have gone thru the K1 visa process in Japan and received the K1 visa last month. Our experience leads me to beleive that you will not be succesful. I would strongly suggest you apply from the Phillippines.
