need to send additional info - can I reference receipt #?

I filed an I-129F and forgot to include a document. I just received I-797C, Notice of Action with a receipt number. Can I send the document referencing the receipt number even though I have not yet received a RFE? Will it get to the right person and into my file so I can save time?

I am no expert, hopefully mew or aussiewench or william or gary see and respond as well, but as I understand it, you should wait for the RFE if an RFE is ever generated over the missing documentation.

Best to let it ride as is, and hope for the best, and be ready to instantly return the RFE if and when it comes by keeping the document handy.

Wait for the RFE. If you send in unsolicited evidence, it will get lost.

When the RFE arrives, just turn it around as fast as you can.

Send the evidence back in a USPS Express document envelope, with the following written on both sides:

ATTN:RFE in red marker.

You may want to include your case number also, on the outside of the package.

This process will speed things up for you.

In my case, RFE acknowledged by CSC, approved 2 days later.

I agree with William. As you'll find out by reading some other threads (if you do some searching), some VJers have tried to submit missing documents or information before getting an RFE with not luck.

You should wait for the RFE, although I've heard of people sending documents without waiting for the RFE. I don't know whether it worked or not.

What document do you think is missing. Maybe it is something that is really not needed. If tou tell us what you think is missing, we can offer some better advice if it is really needed with the I-129F.

Either way, I would wait for the RFE if you do get it. But then you will also know if they (USCIS) also are asking for something different, specific, original,more, less, other, etc...

We had to send in additional materials they were requested from CSC. so we got notice about a second RFE (RFE2) and included to that mail was an envelop with our case number and RFE stamped on the front of that envelop already. USCIS says you need to use that envelop to make for sure your documents will be added correctly to your case.

So I would recommend you to wait for them to send you a RFE.

They anyway check at first if all requested documents were sent to them before they really will start working on your case.
