When can I become US Citizen? I received my green card in the mail today. We have been married for 3 years now (officially).

How hard is the test?

Would you say it is an easier or more difficult procedure to become citizen in comparison with the resident procedure?

My timeline:

11-20-2008: AOS (I-485 & I-130) Package sent.

11-24-2008: Package received at 1.36pm and signed by JCHYBA.

12-04-2008: AOS Check was cashed!

12-05-2008: I-130 Money Order was cashed!

12-08-2008: Received my 3 NOA's and letter for biometrics

12-19-2008: Received RFE and another letter for biometrics

12-22-2008: Sent response to RFE back

12-26-2008: Biometrics appointment! -canceled due to holidays-

01-02-2009: Response to RFE received and case is resumed

01-13-2009: Second biometrics appointment - DONE YAY!

01-26-2009: APPROVAL of EAD!!!!!! YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02-04-2009: Received EAD card in mail and applied for SSN - Picked up SSN day after!

02-06-2009: Passed written test, got driver's permit!

02-10-2009: Received my SSC

03-20-2009: Interview! - RFE

04-14-2009: Brought the requested document to the immigration office.

05-02-2009: Received our 3rd RFE.

05-11-2009: Brought the requested document to the immigration office.

05-27-2009: Received green card YAY Thank you God

04-04-2011: Sent in I-751 Removal of conditions

07-08-2011: Approved!

07-14-2011: Received Permanent Resident Card! WHOOOOO HOOOO we are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you GOD!

What date did you become an LPR? You may apply no earlier than 90 days before the 3 year anniversary of becoming a green card holder.

here is a USCIS website that has info on the test as well as some really good features that you can download and use to help you study, you can download MP3s to listen to and practice test yourself print flash cards etc.

from your timeline, it looks like you became a LPR sometime between May 11 and May 27 of 2009. Therefore, 90 days prior to your May xx, 2012 anniversary.

N-400 Naturalization Timeline

07/06/11 .. Received e-mail notification of application acceptance

08/03/11 .. Received Biometrics letter - scheduled for 8/24/11

Test is easy. Just buy a booklet with questions/answers for the test, study for 3 hours and you are OK.

No need to buy anything - uscis.gov website offers a free pdf....

03/28/11 - FP

06/17/11 - status change - scheduled for interview

06/20?/11 - received physical interview letter

07/13/11 - Interview in Fairfax,VA - easiest 10 minutes of my life

Yes I became a resident in May 2009.... so I guess 90 days before May 2012 is when I'll start. That's what I figured, just wanted to confirm.

When you got your 1st green card, does the expiration date was within 2 years?

Then you removed the conditions and got it for 10 years?
