Casablanca Not Responding to Emails

I'm going to wait until next week. The packet should be in Rome already, so it's frustrating. The CO is holding onto it to "research" it, whatever that means. I've never heard of anyone's waive being researched at the Consular level. I thought that would have happened at Rome.

Will they get aggravated if I call them to ask them case specific questions since their website says NOT to call?

Whenever I called, they were always very polite and patient with me, and they did look up case specific stuff for me. They only have a one hour window that they take calls, so it's not really enough time for them to get inundated with calls and get frustrated.

Thank you. I just received a reply from them from June 29th!! They requested the specifics of our case which I didn't give them in my first email. My lawyer is replying for me. :) She was shocked it took them this long to even respond. This consulate is on the slower side.

Its actually not uncommon it happens in Montreal and London fairly frequently dig around here you will find multiple posts. It is frustrating as it holds up the packet though and according to USCIS the consular decision on whether eligible for waiver or not has to be reviewed by them anyway. They may be digging up any past history at the Embassy he has to send along with the packet. ???

Can you elaborate a little more on what the CO may be doing with the waiver in his possession, and what would take it so long? What would he be looking for exactly?

If your husband has previous immigration history with that Consulate ie: VISA applications of any sort they will have records and notes and may be digging that up comparing that to any statements made in the waiver concerning his past immigration history. For example if you look at the forum posts there was a recent post of an inadmissibility finding by "Calibob" for his beneficiary due to a previous denied VISA where there was misrepresentation, so they gave her a bar for that. In some ways this is to your advantage because if they forward the waiver to Rome and you get it approved and then they send it back to Casa and subsequently they find another ground of inadmissibility that was not covered in the initial waiver packet you are back to square one. All inadmissibility issues need to be addressed in the packet so if something else ends up being discovered make sure to address it before you pay the fees and forward to Rome.

Thank you. Makes sense :)
