Hello people, one more question for today. Have you heard of a case in which USCIS officers came to one's address to verify joint residence?

Since we've submitted our I-751 in June, we moved to a temporary sublet while looking to buy or rent a place in the city, and I am afraid that officers are going to be sent to our home and not find us there... am I just being too anxious? I heard about one such case... not sure how common that is. Thank you for your response.

I've seen a few threads on VJ where they reported USCIS doing a home visit. IIRC in each instance there were other issues with the case that raised the concern of the adjudicator.

I guess the answer you're looking for is it's possible but unlikely unless you have Red Flags in your case-file.

Did you file change of address forms with USCIS?

I've heard of something like this happening.

The USCIS officer came to my friend's cousin's home and just looked around to see if they actually live together. They checked his and his wife's keys, if they have the same ones.

I agree with the post above, i think they only visit you if you raise a red flag.

I doubt that this will happen durin ROC, but it could happen in AOS.

I would guestimate the chance of this happening at the ROC stage is less than 1%, perhaps less than .1%.

Also . . . if you moved, just send an AR-11 with your new address to USCIS. You can actually do that online. You can do that as often as you need to and it's free.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond. I did send Change of Address and even got a confirmation letter... but we are subletting till we find a lease and so I was worried that officers will come to an address where we no longer live since we will be transferring once or twice in the period they're examining my case. Thanks again for your support.

around the time of submitting our package, we were in the process of moving to another state. My husband wrote a letter explaining to them that we don't have a place yet and provided them with a temporary address (a friend of ours). Our friend received my NOA letter, which means they were ok with it. Once we found a place we sent another change of address to the USCIS (around 20-30 days after the first change of address), and I got my Bio appt to our new address. I would send them change of address to where you live now, and when you find a place send them another one.

Good luck

- Delivered to VSC 05/09/11

- NOA receipt date 05/09/11

- Check cashed 05/12/11

- Biometrics letter in the mail 06/02/11

- Biometrics appointment 06/17/11

- Approved 01/27/12

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond. I did send a change of address to our current temporary sublet address, and will send another change of address once we find our (hopefully) permanent place. I do have a P.O.Box but thought that they won't accept it since they want to see the address of our joint residence... in any case, it seems like folks here agree that the chances of them sending officers to our home are pretty slim. Hope that's true. Thanks again.

You are not supposed to use a PO Box for your USCIS mailing, even if you do so they won't mail anything to your PO Box.

Then spend a little more and get a Box at The UPS Store, the mailing address isn't a PO Box (you can use #, suite, apt, or Unit per the rental agreement)...
