By definition:

so·cial·ism (s½“sh…-l¹z”…m) n. 1.a. A social system in which the means of producing and distributing goods are owned collectively and political power is exercised by the whole community. b. The theory or practice of those who support such a social system. 2. The building of the material base for communism under the dictatorship of the proletariat in Marxist-Leninist theory.

cap·i·tal·ism (k²p“¹-tl-¹z”…m) n. An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

Socialism never worked in the newly formed USSR, got paid the same whether you worked or not, no motivation, only lasted a few years then became a dictatorship. Roughly, less than 10% of the Soviets were party members living high off the hog, rest of the people were starving to death.

Capitalism never worked here either, the likes of Carnegie, the Rockefellers had more money than the US government, until Teddy Roosevelt took over and changed all that, was never a level playing field for all Americans. Reagan changed all that back to the way it was prior to Teddy, while we may call this country a democracy, our jobs are based on a dictatorship type control. When I worked for a large corporation, never had a life that I could call my own. Now, 400 of the richest families in this country own over half the nation.

We certainly have socialism here, one thing I like about dealing with a private corporation, can take them to court for charging for services not received. I would love to sue our government for being charged a huge amount each year for services not received.

Its next to impossible to start up a small manufacturing business today with the huge bureaucracy to deal with, all started in the last 40 years. The days of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford are history. Gates made out, but only by the repeal of our anti-trust laws done by Reagan, he put over 4,000 software companies out of business but either using unfair trade practices or buying them out. He could have never done that without the help of Reagan.

Wife was doing very well in Venezuela when I first met her, was the executive assistant to the general manager of an American based company. Coming here was a downfall for her, but she did seek opportunities and I attended night school with her to help her. She is doing fine now equally or exceeding her paycheck in Venezuela. But that was back then. Chavez all but killed her company with huge layoffs, practically all of her friends are on welfare now barely able to make ends meet. Asking her constantly for money.

We our socialism or capitalism here, her daughter received a $10,000 grant last year to attend a foreign college. But working extra hard last year, we earned an additional $6,000.00. Even though our daughter is over 21, because of our extra income, her grant was denied, not just a part of it, but all of it. So what kind of government do we have here?

We are presently fighting for the freedom of six different countries, but at the expense of our own freedom. Its not our representatives protecting us, just a small handful of people are controlling our futures, what kind of government do we have here?

Really don't see any difference between socialism or capitalism, just see corrupt governments, and basically all dictators looking out for their own interest. Screw everyone else.

I will take freedom anyday ,

our system is not perfect .

But I'll take it

At least our president hasn't resorted to using our military using AK-47's to down any demonstrations against him. And comedians can refer to the president as being an a$$hole without being tossed into a prison, even without a trial.

Chavez is no different than Hitler, hope we never get that bad. But feel strongly we should be voting for politicians that promise to represent us, not in what they believe in.

Not yet. He'll try to disarm us first.

It's really hard to shoot people who have guns since they tend to shoot back.
