my husband had the visa interview yesterday at new delhi embassy, they asked him all the questions about our marriage, my family everything. then he said to my husband that he is satisfied with his interview but he needs some time for administration processing and they would mail the letter to him with in a month and then he can mail the passport for the given address in the letter (which they would mail with in the month) and they also told him that he doesn't need to come to embassy because they are going to mail the visa once they get the visa. Another thing his paperwork was complete as they don't need any paper any more

My question is how long this processing going to be

and i heard that new delhi embassy issue specific number of visa everymonth and when everything is done and they don't have visa available they put them on administration processing is this right or wrong let me know

they also said to my husband that his name is common and he need some time

i don't get it what this means and what this had to do with his visa

thank you

can u guys tell me about this

This is very common among male applicants. They write down the Administrative Processing falls under 221(g). They will do background check on him and issue him the visa as soon as the check is complete. It can take between 2-6 weeks, for some even longer. So don't worry.

You are being stressed for no reason. I am sticking with my first post. It is very normal thing for the male applicants regardless of their faiths. Here was my first post.

hi johny,

what i said in last post was due to this reason......you know the muslim names are very common....since after 9/11 incident the gov is doing all types of checks............so if it is hit during the namecheck then they will not issue the visa till they completely verifies it.........so be patient it will not be much time and the visa will be in your hands..........

He is not a Muslim (apparently this gentleman is a Sikh) and this "administrative Processing" is very common among male applicants regardless of their faiths. As soon as the check is done, the Embassy will issue hsi visa. From the OP's post, it is obvious that the interview went fine and they don't even need any more documents from him.

Where full fingerprints taken or just index fingers at your husbanda interview?

This may help you understand AP and security/background checks.

Name/Security checks are a normal process with NVC/consulates but the wait time at NVC is generally not too long as cases can and will be forwarded to the consulate prior to the name/security checks being cleared. Administrative processing usually refers to a legally mandated security check the Department of State (NVC) must do for all applicants/beneficiaries over the age of 16. The length of time one can be held up in administrative processing will vary as some countries are subject to closer scrutiny. The process normally takes four to six weeks but as I said it can be much longer. Full fingerprints are sometimes required at consulate level but this is all a part of the initial administrative processing that began at NVC. Once an interview is held a visa will not be issued until/unless clearance has been received. In most cases (again dependent of country), administrative processing will be completed and clearance granted well before an interview is even held.

my husband had the fingerprints only for his index fingers(2 fingers only)

Yes, it is very normal to take the finger print of both index fingers. Don't worry. You are fine. They will issue his visa as soon as they get the security clearance. From your post, it seems to me that the interview went fine and they don't need any more documents.
