I thought i wouldnt have any more questions from here on out but i guess i was wrong. And i'll probably end up having more after this too. I think after packet 3was done,iv just gotten even more paranoid and worried about every little thing, wanting to make sure that it'll done right and we dont miss or forget anything. I have my interview date in montreal scheduled for mid October. My questions are regarding the medical before the interview. We're going to be using the Medysis clinic. I will also be getting all the required vaccinations ahead of time at a travel clinic. But iv read a few different thing about the medical appointment and i need to make sure i pass this. i have had quiet a few medical issues in the past mostly more when i was a teen, which have all pretty much been solved yet with the exception of a few little things. What i'v read si that you have to bring any previous medical records and chest x-rays with you to the medical. is this true? iv been to SO many doctors over my life and i dont think i'd be able to access each and every record from each and every doctor.especial living in montreal, everything here takes forever.

I guess i should explain a little more. As a teenage i did have some depression issues, being suicidal, and some self harm issues. I do not have any scars tho. During this time i was also in and out of the hospital with stomach problems. this went on until about two years when we (my family and I) heard about Celiac disease. I immediately went on a Gluten free diet. Since then things have improved tremendously. No more depression and no more being sick. In September i will be seeing my gastroenterologist and he will be providing me with a letter stating all of this and that all is now under control with proper diet. Next question, will this one letter be enough to cover everything else that had gone wrong in my past? Especially if there are no current problems? Do i really have to provide old medical records stating all of this? and, if not, if this is no longer an issue (no depression or other medical issues) do i really have to admit to all of the past problems i had at the interview? im SO scared and so worried, has anyone had similar issues? can anyone gone through the visa process with Celiac before? if anyone out there can please help me with this i'd feel so much better! thanks.

I think by having a letter from your doctor explaining everything you should be ok.

oh also, i know this is a lot of questions im just SO worried! Can anyone give me a glimpse into the question they ask at the medical? Will my past of 10 years ago really come back to bite me in the butt?

I had surgery after my medical and they told me at the medical I should have waited until after the surgery in case there was a problem (I had a cyst being removed, could have been cancerous but was not). I had letters from my doctor and the ultrasound results for 3 years back, and when I gave those to the doctor he knew I wouldn't have a problem passing. All the letters were stating my cyst is benign and was being removed only because it was growing and was causing pain.

I can't see depression in the past being an issue. With your diet, as long as you have it under control it really should be fine :)

I was nervous for my medical as well. Very nervous about my surgery being an issue. It wasn't that bad. Just make sure you have your immunizations in check and have documentation proving them.

some things they ask there are -

What medication are you on?

Do you or have you ever taken depression medication are you currently depressed?

Have you ever tried to cut yourself or hurt yourself? Do you have thoughts of dying or killing yourself?

Do you take someone elses medication?

Do you do any illegal drugs or have you ever tried any illegal drugs?

Do you take prescription drugs and what are they?

Do you take prescription drugs that are NOT your prescription? what are they?

Are you an alcoholic? are you a social drinker? have you ever had a DUI?

Thos are some of the questions I was asked. If you are on medication they need the medication and a letter from the doctor. If you have depression problems they may likely send you to a therapist before they approve the medical.

You have to answer everything truthfully and provide the proof of the past medical issues.

Edit to add I went to medisys and i was asked thos questions and more.

From what I've seen here - the doctors are interested in you telling the truth, is the condition currect or in the past? Is it controlled through current medication - that sort of thing. Having supporting documentation, if you an obtain it is good. Can your current physician comment on past medical conditions in a letter

Please don't consider lying about your past - much better to be up front. Yes they may ask for more proof or they may be satisfied that your current regime of treatment is working.

Having Celiac disease would not be grounds for refusing you...it's a treatable condition which it sounds like you have under control.

Not to worry. I went armed with a ####### load of past medical stuff (have had three heart attacks), plus past surgeries which were more than the normal person has in a lifetime (16 since 2000). I had a letter from Dr ready. All the Dr. in Medysis asked was "is everything okay since last heart attack?" I said yes. He never asked me another question. He wrote down any major surgeries I had (I had made up a list and attached it to the form they give you when you arrive to fill out), no questions. I came home with everything I went with and passed. They are mainly looking at communicable diseases, not stomach or heart issues. i too suffered from depression years ago, he never even went there at all. The actual medical itself was listen to lungs, looked in throat and ears, pushed in on stomach and that was it!!!! You will do fine.

oh also, i know this is a lot of questions im just SO worried! Can anyone give me a glimpse into the question they ask at the medical? Will my past of 10 years ago really come back to bite me in the butt?

Here's the link to the VJ page Medical Exams by the USCIS, Everything you Wanted to Know

Read it and it should ease a lot of your fears. Celiac should not be an issue, and neither should the previous depression issues, but because of the self harm, you should obtain a letter stating that you no longer suffer from depression, or are self harming. If you can get the doctor to include that it was probably Celiac causing you to do that, even better.

It's not the doctor that decides, it's the consular officers, so having a letter like that is key. The doctor at the clinic will know that that's not any concern, but the consular officer will be sure to know if a doctor tells him that.
