If you would read a bit more carefully you would see that 8/5/06 is when I got it from the mailbox.

they took delivery of my petition on 7/19/06 but the RECEIVED date is 7/27/06 and the NOA1 date is 7/28/06.

If they took delivery of your petition on 7/19/06--I assume at TSC--then CSC took delivery of transfer on 7/27/06. They really should give you a date of 7/19/06 as your NOA1 date--to be fair--but if your receive date says 7/27/06, then so be it. You are getting screwed by TSC transfer over to CSC.

No matter what, your NOA1 date is NOT 8/5/06. You're part of the July pack.

Reporting when you receive your NOA1 in your mailbox is NOT helpful and misleading for statistical purposes. You should be reporting the actual RECEIVED/NOTICE DATE on the NOA1, if you want to disclose your info.

I prefer NOT to mislead people by giving them false hope and setting up false expectations. When you tell people there's been 2 or 3 or 4 approvals in July, it will setup expectations for other new members. They'll think that 2 months is the proper timeframe for CSC approvals.

So yes, I am vigilant about correcting bogus info on here.

We're all in this boat (and on this board) together. Could we please have a civility, please?

My dates:

Sent 7/6

Delivered in Nebraska 7/8

Received date on I-797C with California receipt number 7/11

Notice date (for NOA1) 7/31

Received date on USCIS website 7/31.

(My check was cashed 7/31.)

At least for me, received date on the website and Notice date are the same.

I think any delays before that are just tough luck for the applicant.

Hi Tom,

So on your I-797C (what we generally call NOA1), it shows:

RECEIVED DATE: 7/11/06

NOTICE DATE: 7/31/06

I would say your actual NOA1 date is 7/11/06 then. That's the date they should be using for choosing which file to adjudicate next if they're going in order. Obviously during the IMBRA RFE fiasco, they were not going in order, but once they resume orderliness, you should be 7/11/06.

That's interesting your dates are off by so many days. Mine was 24th and 25th. Only 1 day difference.

I wish that you were right. I think it would be fairer if they went by 7/11. But I think the notice date (7/31) is the official date, since the NOA1, I-797C, is titled Notice of Action. Also, that is the date on the website.

Given the wide variance in processing, I suspect we'll never know which date they used. I am assuming 7/31. Part of this is because of the logic above. Partly because I think that better prepares me for the long wait ahead. But I very much hope that you're right.

Good luck on your processing too.

Tom, here is what the USCIS states on how they process petitions on their own website.

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices...nal/index.htm#E

Applications are stamped with the time and date of physical receipt, not the time and date they are actually opened.

If the RECEIVE date didn't matter--or is of no significance--then there is no need to even have a receive date, nor would they specifically state the above on their website. I firmly believe the receive date is the real NOA1 date they use. The NOTICE DATE is just the day that they actually got to your petition to issue you your NOA1 receipt. The is NOT the date your peitition was filed. Your petition was filed on the RECEIVE date and that date is recorded.

Either way, best wishes to us all!

Thanks. I couldn't get the link to work, but did find a press release that seems to support your view:

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffair...delay_42706.pdf

I will contact my members of congress on this tomorrow. Since the web site lists the notice date as the received date, I suspect that is where their computer is putting me in the que. But if they follow their procedures, then it seems that they should be going by the received date. Trying to fix it is definitely worth the effort.

If you can give me the link you had in mind, I would appreciate it.

If that is the case, you guys--TSC and NSC petitioners--are really getting screwed! The date your original SC received your petition should be the RECEIVED date and that is the date they should be using when choosing which petition to adjudicate next. If they are giving you a RECEIVE date based on when CSC received the transfer from TSC, then that's #######. That's even more delays for you guys--as if CSC wasn't slow enough already.

Total BS. All I can say is I feel for ya!

I totally agree with you, that's ####### But unfortunally that's what it seems they're doing. My fiance called on Monday -right after our NOA1 6month mark from nebraska- and that's the answer they tried to give him, that our NOA1 was June 15th, the date CSC received our case. I have no idea why they are doing it only with some cases, but that probably explains why so many March and April filers are still in CSC limbo.

At this point all we care about is getting our RFE and our NOA2 so we can get married this year. The tought of a winter wedding is not that bad anymore....

As for myself

NSC received it on august 24th

CSC received date is august 29th (as shown on NOA1)

Notice date is august 31st (NOA1)

But on the website the status of the case says that it was received on august 31th.

But reading the link that Tomyu gave it shows that my date would be august 29th but based on the website or what people say here would be august 31th...

oh well, 2 days isnt that big of a deal, i really dont care, but it gets kinda confusing just for an official date.

Definitely should be the received date in my opinion. As for the delay between the 2 service centers, its only 5 days as well so we are talking about a week. But at the end, they should just let the people send it right away to CSC... :bonk:

I'm in the same position with a confusion over received date and NOA1 date.

My NOA1 says receipt date Aug 29 & Notice date Sept 5.

The USCIS online account for my case number states Sept 5 as my receipt date.

I'd like to think CSC would move my file in the pile between the Aug 28 & 30 files, but the website tells me it was received Sept 5. I guess a weeks worth of petitions isn't going to make that much difference, but it is confusing when trying to fill out my timeline.
