Hi. Ive been trying to understand wheather the NVC wants u to send the original documents to them, such as birthcertificate, marriage certificate etc. Is this correct that they require originals? Or do I make copies and bring the originals to the interview? Im confused

I also had a question regarding country of domicile that you have to fill out at the affidavit of support. My husband have been in Sweden since december 2010 and have a visa valid until januari 2012. Althouh he only have a vistors visa, which means that he techinally doesnt live here and are not aloud to work, he is just here as a visitor. Are Sweden his country of domicile now? or is USA? he is still written on the adress there where all of his mail etc goes.

Link to government page regarding docs

government instructions found at travel.state.gov

"You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States must submit to the NVC original documents issued by an appropriate authority, or certified copies of those documents listed in this section."

next section states you need to submit 1 photocopy of each original document too.

Original documents, photocopies, and translations (if required, as explained above) of the following documents must be submitted to the NVC for you ["you" =beneficiary] and each family member immigrating with you to the United States.

Birth Certificates

Court and Prison Records

Deportation Documentation

Marriage Certificates

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Petitioner Documents

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Photographs

Police Certificates

Adoption Documentation

re: country of domicile... if he holds a Sweden passport, is here on a visitor visa, and pays taxes in Sweden... my guess is that his domicile is Sweden. He is not here to live, he is here to visit. I could be wrong, though.

The documents must be originals or certified copies issued by the government authority in charge of maintaining the record. In addition, you send in a set of copies of all these documents.

I also had a question regarding country of domicile that you have to fill out at the affidavit of support. My husband have been in Sweden since december 2010 and have a visa valid until januari 2012. Your husband must show that he has a domicile in the US. You mention his US mailing address. Is this a home that he intends to return to? Did he use to live there? If yes to both questions, then that is his domicile. If it is something else, then it could be his domicile or it may not be depending on the circumstances. Does he list that address on this driver's license? Where is he registered to vote?
