The NVC electronic processing project for K visa (fiancée/spouse non-immigrant visa)

Can I do electronic processing for a Fiancee Visa? How? Will this speed up the process? or are we to late since we are already well into the process?

The hard copy of our file was sent to GUZ June 7th. Its July 11th (5 weeks) and they still havent received it. Most people on here (according to Timeline) show GUZ receiving their hard copy about 4-5 weeks after it was sent. Of course, the GUZ website says it may take up to 4 months for them to receive. Gotta love it!!!

Petitioner can do nothing at NVC to ensure that SAFEFILE solely (for an I-129F petition) is used for casefile transmission, sorry. There's no phone number to call, you can't request it via email, heck even if you tried to request it via fax, it won't work. NVC staffer somewhere makes the decision, IMO is also based on the caseload at GUZ IV as well (but I could be wrong) and also IMO, it depends on the complexity of the I-129F petition (someone's got to scan yer casefile, aye?)

IF SAFEFILE is solely used on your casefile (as opposed to DHL + SafeFile ) then burn some joss, you've been blessed.

I know yer looking at the bottom of http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/nvc_pilot_program_of_electronically_processing_visa_petitions.html#5

but (to the best of my knowledge) is not 100 percent SAFEFILE usage at NVC for I-129F petitions headed over to the Guangzhou IV unit. SAFEFILE is the electronic pipe and storage network that DoS uses for electronic casefiles, usually NVC is final collection point, sends out to the Consular Post after the interview is scheduled.

---

for further tracking, on a I-129F petition and subsequent K-1 petition, keep calling DoS Hotline and inquire for casefile status --> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/ (Find my post there, it contains important timeticks)

When you hear 'casefile opened' pay attention, as the Packet 3 will be sent out shortly, you can shave 2 to 3 weeks using this shortcut -> http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/GUZ_P3_Shortcut

In case you are talking about what I originally thought you were talking about! This answer is NO, Fiancee Visas can not use NVC Electronic processing! Here is a link from the Consulate in Guangzhou!

That link actually contradicts what you say...

"What about K visas?

The NVC electronic processing project for K visa (fiancée/spouse non-immigrant visa), has different procedures. For these cases, although the petitions are loaded electronically, the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou still contacts visa beneficiaries to provide more documents prior to interview scheduling.

If you are a K visa applicant and you have opted in for electronic processing, you will still have to wait for paper instructions via mail from the Consulate."

That bottom part refers to packet 3

Ya, it is confusing, ah ? reread post #2

but - it really boils down to 'how it was shipped' at NVC -

--DHL with Safefile or

--Safefile solely (no DHL)

No DHL involvement? about 2 weeks from 'NVC OUT' to 'P3 sent' timeticks.

With DHL Involvement? about 2 to 5 months from 'NVC OUT' to 'GUZ IV open casefile' timeticks.

I still feel a little lost here. b & q can you point me in the direction to where K visa applicants can opt in for electronic processing? I really feel stupid about this and how I missed it. I know its too late for us now but it would be very helpful for others it think.

Never mind I found it. I would like to add that we did not opt in for electronic processing but P3 was sent (to the wrong address) just about two weeks after I was told our petition left NVC.

Chris,

I still don't know how one could opt for electronic processing of a k-1 petition :)

Was it something on one of the forms or a verbal request made to USCIS or NVC?

OK - some official word - http://travel.state.gov/pdf/Embassy_Specific_Info-GUZ.pdf

Note that K-1/K-3 are not included in the big list.

China EP is also covered for nvc/state.gov at http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_5163.html
