It's not that cut and dry as to a sponsor--depends a lot on the backup information you have from your employer and pay stubs.

As to the amount, use $20800 so long as your employer will put it in writing--or use whatever amount he WILL put in writing.

If you are forced to use $18850, you are just squeaking by, so the CO may require another sponsor. Even at $20800 unless you have a strong letter from your employer, your recent pay stubs aren't going to support that number looking back, so it is not a done deal.

Ah ok. So I'm going to use the 20,800 figure, as long as he will go with it and go ahead and get my co-sponsor to fill out the paperwork just to be safe. Thank you so much. Your wife has the most beautiful name by the way!

I would recommend listing your current income which is $10/hour. I864 asks about your current income. Nor past. On the next page of I864 it asks for last year's income. In this part you will list your past income. You should not average it.

Magical, I have question just to get things correct. I just started work after graduation this May. I have the employment offer letter with the annual pay and my first pay check/ stub.

  1. In the current income do I include the this annual income of say USD 60,000 or do I have to just mention USD 30,000 as I started my employment on 7/1/2011.
  2. Will the employment offer letter with annual pay and the first pay stub be sufficient or do I need to get an Employment letter.
  3. My 2010 transcript is just 16,665 (only summer pay, as I was in school) falls short of supporting my wife by around 2000/-. But I hae 401K of 15,000 & Saving balance of another 15,000, do I need a co-sponsor!

Ok so they aren't asking for a 01/2011 to 12/2011 figure, they are asking for a 52 week figure?

Exactly they are asking "Based on what you are making today", what is your annual income. So it is currently hourly wage X hours per week X 52.

don't overthink it.
