what is considered large age difference?

I think 42 or 52 could be, but 32 and 21 shouldn't be an issue.

Anyway, it's not just about age gaps, it's more about proof of bona fide relationship. You can be the same age, but if you can't show a real relationship, it won't be approved.

I am 32year old us citizen and will turn 33 next month. My fiance turned 21 in feb. Is 12years large enough age difference for us to get denied k-1 visa?

An age difference in itself is not a reason for denial, although it may draw more attention/questioning during the process.

Age difference between the petitioner and beneficiary can be looked at differently in each country...meaning in some countries it is perfectly normal, in others it may be something that is outside cultural norms. It can also depend which partner is older - the male or the female.

Having said this.... my husband and I have had no problems so far with our age difference, which is 20yrs (although I can't speak personally of the K-1 process, since we are doing IR-1/CR-1).

Just be prepared that it MAY be something that is looked at more closely during interview. Just make sure you have plenty of evidence proving a true and bona fide relationship and you should be fine.

I am sure there are other VJ members that will be able to give you more country and/or K-1 specific information.

Good luck!

There are other Higher age differences.

So you were 32 and she was I guess 20 ? I don't know.

All fine to me.

Responces from her Country is what I would look at. I don't think it will be Negitive.

Hi,

It should not be a problem. They have no any legal right to deny a k-1 visa because of the age differencE. The age difference between me and my fiancee is 26 years and we don't think it will be a problem. We've been living together for a year and a half and now have a 2 month old beautiful baby boy. Our interview is gonna come in a week and we will post if we have any problem.

Men petitioning for younger women seems to fall within the cultural norms of our society (US Culture) and is not uncommon in the context of marriages in the FSU countries. It seems that the marriages that get the most scrutiny based on posted reports here are older women petitioning for much younger men in the MENA countries where it is not culturally typical for that those countries. Add in the heightened security issues surrounding this situation and it creates a major hurdle to overcome.

I believe if you and your Fiances' ages were the opposite you might draw quite a bit more scrutiny as a 21 year old American Male "typically" is not going to be in the financial circumstance or social setting to be meeting 32 year old women from the Ukraine unless perhaps working or studying overseas.

I think in your circumstance the only scrutiny that will be applied is the circumstances of meeting and the development of the relationship. If that is plausible then you probably will not have a problem.

We have you all beat......

If it is genuine and true, then there isn't going to be a problem outside of being asked about it(the age difference) to the point of monotony.

We held our ground, had the evidence, and answered anyone's questions regarding the "validity". Actually, sometimes I think Mari is more mature than me, but that is beside the point.............

Good Luck and don't worry about the things you can't control. Just focus on your relation and all the parts of the process you "can" control.
