True. Seems like domestic consumption should be rewarded then.

They already are rewarded. Have you tried their fudge?

Because they're not afforded a fair share of the fruit of their labor. Nobody wants to talk about that sharing, though.

are you suggesting that johnny no stars the burger flipper's job is as worthy wagewise as your own?

I work a lot more than my (poorer) friends. Where do you get this idea that rich people sit on their аsses and do nothing for their money?

because geckos sit that way naturally, blame nature for the design.

Sorry, can't say I've been to these spots. I will be driving through Mizzou in a few weeks time though. Loving chocolate, I can perhaps re-route.

A living wage would not be too hard to ask, even when the entire point of a company is to be profitable. Lets keep some dignity about all employees, no matter where in the corporate ladder they are.

They are alive, aren't they? What's a living wage then? Everyone wants more money, naturally.

no. if you really want equality, then everyone should be paid the same amount - and then everyone will pay their "fair share" in taxes too. perhaps aj or the gecko can come up with a national average wage.

No, I don't. Those would be some pretty expensive burgers. What I am suggesting, however, is that even Johnny No Stars deserves a reward for an honest day of work that enables him to support himself and live while not a particularly prosperous, at least a dignified life where he does not need to depend on public support for decent housing, food, basic clothing and basic medical needs. And if you are going to tell me that that just ain't feasible because the burger joint can't stay in business under such conditions, then I'd say that's bull. The same burger joints stay in business elsewhere in the world where the Johnny No Stars receive an equitable wage in return for their labor.

Employees who work for low wages are stupid.

If you will work hard and stick around for $5.25...

... you are stupid.

Employers will pay you what you are worth to them. If you don't make yourself worth more, you won't get paid more.

If you will work hard and stick around for $5.25, paying you $11.00 is corporate malpractice.

Asking for $11.00 I am sure is grounds for dismissal from some places. And if you even mention organizing to push for more fair compensation... fuggedaboutit.

Yes, they are alive. But it takes Medicare and food stamps to keep them that way because their employers don't pay them a living wage. That's corporate welfare - we all pay for that whether we frequent that burger joint ot not - that I think we need to end.

I thought the idea of a fair wage has more to do with the job being done than on being silly in hyperbole. I know this opens the door to ridiculous overcompensation at 'the top'... but hey, we don't do that in the USA. Lets be less ridiculous and more invested in better taking care of American workers. Sounds like something of a campaign slogan- even used by the GOP not too long ago. Remember?
