Hello everyone,

I received my NOA2 hardcopy today:) My fiancee would like to have her physical/vaccinations in Chiang Mai at McCormick hospital. I e-mailed them a few days ago about needing an appointment, but haven't heard back. Does anyone know if this is required there?

Thank you.

I almost forgot to say. Would anyone know if they require the 3 1 x 1.5 inch photos there? Andy and Pui responded a little while back and said it wasn't required, but that was at BNH in Bangkok. Thank you again.

Don't need photos. They do want to see some type of paperwork from the embassy. This was 2009. Could have changed. My wife showed them the packet 4 instructions. Since you are K-1, packet 3 should be good.

Thank you Karee. Do the photos have to be the 1 x 1.5 or could they be the usual 2 x 2 passport style? Too bad there are two different dimensions for the medical and then interview. Also, does this mean she has to wait for the offical packet 3 instructions? I thought people here get their medicals soon after they receive their NOA2's? And I'm looking at the medical examination instructions from the US Embassy, dated 4/25/11, and it doesn't say that anywhere. Could you clarify?

nottoolong,

Once you have your NOA2, you don't have to wait for packet 3 notice from the embassy. The letter will just tell you to go to the official us embassy in Bangkok website (http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html) and download packet three from there. Here is the direct link to packet 3: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/k_packet3.html.

You can scan and email your NOA2 to your fiancee to print out and take to her medical. They just need to know why she is getting the medical for.

With your NOA2, your fiancee can also get her police certificate in Bangkok.

Going to Bangkok, my fiancee was able to get both her medical and police report taken care of in one day. She received her medical result the same day. The police certificate may take up to 2 weeks. She can request to have it mail to her.

Just follow the instruction in the downloaded packet 3.

Good luck!

Thank you kkm. I have so much information printed and/or saved now, I couldn't locate if we had to wait or not. Scanning the NOA2 sounds familiar though. The direct link you provided to packet 3 didn't work when I tried it, though I have this one: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/k_instructions_package_may09.pdf. I would think it's the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I wanted my fiancee to have her medical and get her police report all in Bangkok, though she wants to go to Chiang Mai for her physical. She has a good friend up there and wants to see her as much as she can before she comes to America. I fully understand. I'm glad she can use a scan of the NOA2 for her police report as well.

I still don't know why they want pictures of different dimensions for the physical as opposed to the interview. Maybe I'm being too critical (me?) but it seems to be more confusing than it has to be. I'm going to contact McCormick again and ask, as well as ask if appointments are required.

Thank you again.

Why does the police certificate have to be obtained in BKK in person? What a waste of money...

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

My wife was able to pay a lawyer or motorbike driver to get it for her. She was in Chiang Mai. Not sure which one. But she never showed up there in person.

I thought it was mandatory for every Thai resident to go to Bangkok in person for this? Especially with all the documents required to show.

She had a lawyer in Chiang Mai deal with it for 5k baht. She didn't feel like making the 10 hour bus trip to Bangkok. I got yelled at before here because someone here said I was trying to rip someone off. I HAVE NOTHING to do with it. Pay the guy or make the trip if you want. I have no skins in the game.

I can see why she didn't want to make the trip. Luckily, my fiancee "only" has a 5 hour trip there.
