My Colobian wife and I were approved for her immigrant visa which I will pick up at the Colombian Embassy this Monday or Tuesday. If I understand correctly, she will need to travel to the U.S. and wait for her green card and social security number; is this correct?

Yes, she has to be in the US to get her Greencard, at the US address she filled in her immigrant forms..

Also she can go any Social Security office and apply for SSN with her immigrant visa....

Goodluck and welcome to America...  :D

Yes- ish.

She gets a stamp on her passport when she enters the USA which acts as a temporary greencard for one year, as it can take a couple of months for the physical greencard to arrive; she can travel, find work etc with this temp stamp. If you ticked the relevant box on the form, the SSN will be sent to your US address within a couple of weeks after arrival.

Why are you asking?

Congrats it was my understanding that you can't pick up the visa at the embassy the options are 10 day mail to her adrees by DOmesa or pick up at BGT domesa Office around 4 to 6 day after approval.

For the rest of the questions everything is yes
