Vaccinations at Medical Exam

Good day to all. One question that we have not been able to have answered is one about the vaccinations being given during the medical exam. Does anyone know if my wife must have all required vaccinations before going to the medical exam or will they be administered during the medical exam. If during the medical exam is there an additional cost for the vaccines?

Hello! I went to SLEC without my immunization records and they gave me 2 shots of vaccines. Vaccines are included from the amount that you have to pay for the medical fee. No additional cost. No worries if your wife doesn't have her immunization record anymore, they will determine what vaccines she still needs and at no additional cost.

Just to be sure that everyone understands that every locale is different, so what might be true for the Philippines may not be true for other locations. For example, my wife needed a couple of vaccinations in Costa Rica, and they were administered at the medical exam, but they were an additional charge. You will also find that in some locations you can go to your private doctor ahead of time to get them, while others require that they be done at the medical, so this is not a one size fits all answer.

My wife didn't have any vaccination records...so they gave her an arm full. Her arm was sore for a week afterword. So yes, they will give her all required vaccinations at SLEC, at no extra charge.

... what i did was, researched on what has to be administered ...

... (consider the age, exposure, etc.) ...

... then had some immunizations done privately(those that require more than 1 dose) ...

... so st lukes just administered the last of the doses that is required of me ...

... end result is - my immunization complete ...

... but if you cant complete it there in the phils, no worries ...

... they can administer here for a fee ...

The OP is under CR/IR type of visa. Vaccines are different compared to K1 since we don't adjust status when we get there. Just like what Magdasal said, you don't have to worry about the vaccines since they are already included in the medical fee. Before vaccinations, a doctor will look into the results of the exam first. Whatever it is that your wife needs (vaccines), SLEC will give it to her with no charge. I don't think you need to see a private doctor to have your wife's shots done before the medical because your wife can get them all (if needed) at SLEC.

Are titer tests used to determine if immunity is present in the body before giving a possibly unnecessary vaccine(s)? Better yet, can a person have a titer done by their private doctor for the list of diseases concerned and present the lab results at the time of the medical?

A titer is a blood test that proves if you are immune to certain diseases. What this means is that if you have had the vaccines (shots/injections) given and are showing immunity.

1. If you have an updated vaccination chart for your wife, you can avoid this. Please make sure she takes this with her to the medical.

2. You can get the titer done to see if she does have immunity to some of the required immunizations needed for entry into the U.S.

You can get this titer done anywhere. Make sure it's a good decent clinic.

You wife will need to get any or all vaccines if they are outdated, she has not received them or she is in need of a booster shot (I.E. Tetanus).

It would be also wise for your wife to take around 15,000 to 20,000 INR with her just in case she needs to take quite a few vaccines.

Thank you all so much for the great responses. This is the information I was hoping to confirm. I have paid the I-864 and IV fees, mailed the documents to the NVC and we are waiting for the NVC to put the paperwork with our case. Then all should be ready for the documents to be sent to the US Embassy in Manila. Monday 11 July begins week #3 of the waiting for the NVC to get it all together. Fingers crossed and many prayers for this to be the week it all comes together.
