Killing is wrong.

The death penalty is wrong. It *is* a product of a less-civilized society. It is not cheaper than life in prison. It does not deter crime.

I am also against abortion, before you say something about that.

Are you for real? I am so tired of the VJ mainstay: "If you don't like it, go back to your own country." You're kind of an ####.

Crime deterrence is the ONLY reason for the death penalty, not revenge. As for the hackneyed cliche about blind obeisance being tantamount to patriotism, that chauvinistic attitude is as seditious as the most radical anarchistic rant. I'm surprised that the English teacher didn't describe Simpson's as being provincial, then again, the United States doesn't have provinces .:rofl::rofl:

Crime deterrence is the ONLY reason for the death penalty

You can not cure people like this. The death penalty makes sure that this "man" does not get out and commit the same crime again. It makes 100% sure that another family does not have to hear how their daughter was raped by this piece of trash and left with a piece of wood with a nail in it inside her dead body.

How many times has someone been convicted wrongfully?

Obviously the executed cannot commit crimes :P , but I've often heard people say that having the death penalty on the books will help prevent others from committing crimes punishable by death.

I will not dispute this and I am certainly no fan of this monster. If I had my way I'd do things to him that would make the most sadistic medieval torturer soil himself but I also know that my worst punishment is nothing compared to what awaits him when he passes. Why should I go to Hell for this creep. I still like the idea of exile. A deserted island (a thoroughly inhospitable place) somewhere with no contact with the outside world for the rest of his life seems like a solution. He won't kill anyone and it will be as if he no longer exists. Coping skills could be provided during intake but after that, for the rest of his natural life, he won't see another soul. It's like 50 years of solitary confinement.

Let me look at my traffic tickets. tongue.gif

That only works if it is public execution and any shock value is attenuated by the fact that that sociopaths and anyone who did what this individual did, don't care.

Bullshite! This man raped and killed a child and we dont give a dam that he was executed. Bringing the middle east into this, how laughable.

Reading comprehension much? I was pointing out the hypocrisy of one who gets high and mighty about UN and international law in one context while saying "who cares?" in another. I wasn't directly addressing the OP and haven't expressed my opinions about the Texas death penalty, or the heinous nature of the crime involved.

If he had raped and killed a child I would totally support it.

Our executions are very humane, hardly a scream for blood. I find it ironic that life becomes so precious to you regardless of this mans sins but when it comes to abortion then well there a lot of "buts" in your book.

Another great use of pronouns. "If he raped and killed a child I would totally support it." Reread that statement...

I think your confused Simpson. I am prolife, the only "buts" I have are in cases where the life of the mother is endangered or perhaps in situations of rape.

Life in prison does not mean "life". More like 25 to 30 years.

exactly

Life w/o parole makes sure of that at a fraction of the cost and w/o turning all of us into killers.

I am not good in math but how is a lifetime of housing/feeding/entertaining a prisoner CHEAPER than executing (ie NOT a lifetime of housing/feeding/entertaining)?
