Ok so we have our interview in one week, next friday.

I am in final preparations mode.

I have documents ready I think. Original Passports, Birth Certificates, Police Check, Death certificate for childrens father, vaccine info for Medical, passport photos.

I also have my AOS support info, need to double check that but I for sure have tax transcripts packed, and copies of everything I sent in electronically. Most of it was all sent online and there are no true "originals" for paystubs, w2's, etc. Should be ok.

Medical is on Monday, vacation till Friday and have interview followed by celebration at Harry Potter finale with all the dressed up weirdos!

One big question, do you dress up for the interview? Or is our standard shorts, t-shirts, and sandals good enough?

Everyone will have a different opinion - the consulate is not basing their decision on what you're wearing that day though. Considering that it's summer I don't personally see anything wrong with a polo and shorts for a guy or khaki's (other then shirt, pants & shoes - the consulate doesn't have a dress code). Plastic Havana Flip flops might be too casual, but a polo, khaki's and nicer leather sandals would be ok IMO.

A lot of women have worn a work top and pants, some choose a skirt based on personal preference.

Morale of the story - stay away from the 'I Hate America' tshirts and holes in any clothing.

Cheers

Consider it this way. Why let dress be the deciding factor. If you arrive dressed in shorts and sandals then the VO WILL be influenced by that. The general rule of thumb is to treat it as a job interview and dress accordingly. I think business casual dress is good. Blouse and skirt or trousers for a woman and Shirt or Polo and trousers for the man (nice khakis or chinos are ok). Bottom line is better to take things like this out of the equation.

Back at my interview the lady collecting documents from me at Montreal commented on how nicely I was dressed, so did the interviewing officer.

I wore nicely fitted new black jeans, new black shoes and a button up collared shirt that had sleeves that went to my elbo that had proper cuffs on them, the shirt was a very nice vibrant blue.

I personally hate skirts and felt that blue jeans were too casual and totally treated it as a professional interview. Mind you, when I was in the waiting room there were people that looked literally as if they had just rolled out of bed, PJ pants, messy hair and all. Yep literal fleece PJ pants! Then most of the people sitting around me were very nicely dressed specially the women. Only a few men in full suits most had on dress pants dress shoes and a button up collar shirt (no tie) etc.

Allright. Ill make sure to have everyone pack some nice clothes! The shoes will impair on my room in my carry on luggage though! Trying to keep from having to spend an extra 25 bucks to check a damn bag. God I hate airline companies.

Or I could just sleep in and skip the interview and make them go alone, but I figured that's kinda mean.

Don't want to argue, but I think this is a little misinformation - each Embassy in each country may be different of course and your advice may be sound in certain situations. The Montreal Embassy isn't particularly formal and as noted above by those who have been there, people come dressed in various ways and are equally successful.
