Planning for ticket to USA (from Cebu?)

Does anyone know what the current rules are for who can purchase an airline ticket for the fiancee once it is time to do so? Is there any law or policy that requires she purchase her own ticket from the Philippines? Or, can I do it for her from the USA?

I ask this because back in 2000 I was told that it was illegal for me to make such a purchase... she either had to do it herself, or I could do it for her if I was in the Philippines (which I happened to be... we flew back together after I purchased her ticket from an agent). She has no bank accounts or credit cards, so I'd prefer if there's a way for me to get the ticket for her from here. I don't really want to Xoom $1500 USD in cash to her and have to have her walk around the streets for a while with that much cash to buy a ticket. Makes me nervous.

Also, are there any good direct flight options from Cebu to USA? If possible, I'd like to minimize the number of connections she needs, which is normally 4 planes (fly to Manila or Cebu, then to Japan/Korea, then to hub in USA, then on to Boston). I've flown hundreds of times and still get confused and stressed running around unfamiliar airports, in a panic to make the connecting flight. She's only flown once, between CDO and Cebu, and will have more to be stressed about than usual.

my fiancee is right now looking flights for me and for my daughter for usa.our PoE will be chicago.he is kinda find it so hard to find 2 available seats for us since its summer.our expected departure will hopefully on the 12th..(but again that depends on the available seats.

my fiancee will be the one who will gonna buy for our tickets..then according to him..then he will gonna send me the itenerary.

you can buy for her ticket...

good luck!!!

Search this forum, it has been answered several times. Some airlines will require her to have her eTicket plus a scanned copy of your ID and credit card used to purchase the ticket. Some don't. Best to check with the airline you are booking thru as to their requirements.

my wife and i like korean air. cebu to korea to chicago. she should have no problems in the korean airport because there is plenty of time between flights. we had 4 hours last time we were there. and there are plenty of filipinos in the airport to help her. some even work there. korean air will be good for the child because they have a tv with games and movies too.

Thanks, this is all good to know. And, I did like Korean Air on my last flight over... there was much more time than NWA gave me between flights. Plus, the Korean language announcements that are happening all the time in the airport while waiting amuse me for some reason. :-)

I did a lot of searching for flights from Cebu to the US and I'm booking with cheapOair. I asked them if she would need copies of my credit card and ID to be able to board, they said that through them she wouldn't need it and it was okay for me to book the flight for her. Just make sure she gets the itinerary. I'm going to give her copies of the card and ID just in case...you never can tell.

The ticket I am getting her will be from Cebu to Tokyo, then Tokyo to Washington D.C. There is about 2-3 hour layovers at each airport...there were others with a lot longer. I'm not sure what side of the US you're on, but they also had Tokyo to Chicago, New York, New Jersey.

The ticket is for a few months out, so it was only around $1000.

Get on cheapOair and do some searching, I'm sure you'll find a flight that will be acceptable.

If you want to talk to them...hit the Contact link and click the "Live Support Online" graphic.

Hope that helps.

When my wife came the first time on the K3 visa I booked the flight through http://www.cheapoair.com/. When she flew to the PI on a trip that she didnt know the return date for sure, we booked a one-way flight. Then when she was ready to come home again I booked her return flight again through http://www.cheapoair.com/. It is an E-ticket, so, all she had to do was print it out.

Never was a problem for us. In fact, I never ever heard of this problem before, so I never even gave it any thought before. We never had a problem in multiple flights.
