OK. So, Tuesday afternoon I took the I-129F package to the post office (USPS) and sent it off with the U.S. Postal Service Delivery Confirmation Receipt (not the signature confirmation - just regular priority mail, not express or first class). I have been tracking it and at 10:30am, USPS attempted to deliver it to the address I gave (the P.O. box in Dallas). According to them, however, there was "No Authorized Recipient Available" and they left a notice. I don't see anyway for me (the sender) to get the package back, but USPS says that if the package isn't claimed within 15 days they will return it to the sender. The problem is that in 15 days I will be out of the US (visiting my fiance, as a matter of fact) and won't be able to receive the package or resend it. Also, we've been trying to get him a visa for about a year now (having not found the resources to do a student visa, we decided to do the fiance visa). So, clearly, we are both a but anxious for this process to hurry up so we can be together already (we haven't seen each other in more than six months).

So, my question is this, has anyone had a similar situation before? Again, I didn't request a signature confirmation, only a delivery confirmation and on the receipt I have it doesn't say anything about there needing to be someone there to accept the package. I can't really re-do the whole package since the documents had original signatures from my fiance who is not with me right now. Any help?

Thanks guys.

PO Boxes are usually located at Post Offices, so whoever is picking up the PO Box mail will probably pick your Priority Mail letter at the same Post Office.

That happened to me too. USCIS will pick up the package, just give it another day or two and check the status again.

Since you send the petition with a certified mail and the Dallas Lockbox do not sign any certification from USPS. It is a mail box so that there is no one to sign and accept the mail. In a week time you will receive a text and email from USCIS. However the message from the USPS will be still the same. My petition was approved mid June but still the message on the USPS online said “attempt to deliver”. There is nothing to worry; your petition will be delivered.

Good luck with your long Journey.

I thought I would chime in on this in case anyone researches past topics like I do... I sent mine certified and I did get the certified notice back. They don't sign it but do stamp it. I did see where someone else got a name to sign it but they may have couriered it.

7/15/11 Sent K1 Petition to Lockbox

8/10/11 STILL NO NOA1!

8/12/11 Called USCIS to get receipt number-NOA1 will be resent

8/16/11 Received NOA1 with date of 7/20/11

1/3/12 NOA2!!!

1/12/12 Got email notice we are through the NVC.

FYI - They got it the next day, USPS said it was delivered, I got my NOA1 about 3 weeks ago. Waiting on the NOA2.
