Hello all,

I have a question. I have looked on other threads, but this is a little more particular. I am trying to get a visa for my foreign husband. I came back to the US to create domicile (look for a good permanent job) and I was going to wait to apply for the visa when I found one. Unfortunately, I have not found one (this economy sucks). To make it more difficult, I am pregnant (so nobody will hire me). It is really important for me to get him here to help me take care of the baby or to find a job (maybe he will have a easier time than I). All I have right now is a large bank account and I think I have 3 x poverty level for a family of 3 (3 x 30,000). My question is: is there a risk of my application being rejected because all I have are assets and no steady income (I can temp and substitute but that is not steady income)? I don't want to pay the money to file the forms and risk being rejected.

Thanks!

The visa would not be approved without adequate financial sponsorship.

The amount of assets needed to meet the income requirement once the child is born would be 3 X 23,162 ( $69,486). For a household of 2 the amount needed is 3 X 18,387 ($55,161) .

You can use a joint sponsor. They would have to meet the income (and/or asset) requirement for their household count plus your spouse. A joint sponsor can be any US citizen or Green Card holder.
