don't forget your weight limit. This is big for airlines. For USair, I spent time re balancing my bags at the airport because one was over and one was under. Not a fun thing to do at check in. Also, if travelling together, you get 4 bags plus two carry ons, or whatever is allowed for level of membership with that airline. Please note you MUST check all airlines on the way for baggage fees. Do not take any airline for granted. USAir got me on the way out. United allowed me free because of coming from PAL. But I still had to grab at Customs and go through customs with bags. You luggage can be checked through to your final destination, but you MUST claim it at US customs, then place back into luggage belt after leaving customs. ANY unclaimed bags left at customs are subject to customs disposal.

We flew Asiana Airlines last October. We were allowed 2, 50 pound bags checked in, no extra charge. I had a small soft leather bag for a carry on, and I had everything in it, camera, other things that I thought I might need on the way. I did take two bags to check in, but I didn't load them to 50 pounds, but when I flew from Manila to Dumaguete City I had to put part of it on cargo, as domestic flight in the Philippines does not allow as much as the Airlines do for international flight.
