The only good it does is to speed up the process... You can call, get the number, give them some information.. then email the DS-3032, have them generate the bills, and pay them, and then send out the two AOS and IV packets.. This is a fairly single thread process (two threads each in linear order) so there is time to shed by not waiting for the mailman.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

You're the petitioner and you're talking about the K-1/i-129f?

When you get the NVC case number the beneficiary can go ahead and schedule the medical. In some cases it speeds up the process since the beneficiary isn't waiting until after packet 3 arrives to have the medical done. In some countries there's also a long wait from scheduling to actual medical. It might be a time safer so the embassy will have the medical with the new case number faster and the beneficiary can report ready sooner.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

hey - have a read on this one?

Dodi - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

Dodi's posted how to call and who; further down I've posted what you can get, and when.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
