Alright thanks for the help. I have told her before that it's not needed and the court records should be just fine, but she insisted on getting one, because " they need your full background check".

laughing.gif They do their own background checks (which includes if you've lived in the US) since they have access to their own US databases. It's of course a different story when it comes to foreign countries.

Good luck on the rest of your process :)

Thank you! how long did it take you from sending your documents to getting your case closed and receiving an interview date?

It's all in my signature! :D

Sent my AOS and IV packages at the beginning of February, got my case closed a month later, and had an interview date scheduled 15 days after my CC.

hello vj members, i had couple questions

Is any kind of police record certificates required for the NVC documents when you live in the US for more than a year?

Is a court record not enough?

any information is appreciated :)

FBI record check, USCIS will complete NCIC checks

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Your post is not exactly clear and if you have a conviction of some sort there is a good chance not NVC but the Consulate will want to take a look at the charging documents "ie police records". That will depend on the clarity of the court records I suspect. Typically a person with no criminal history will not need a "police certificate" from the US, but in your case I would have it handy just in case. keep in mind that depending on what the conviction was for you might run up against an inadmissibility bar and that will be another big can of worms so to speak.

it was a ticket for driving without license, i got the supervision for that and it ended. the court record says what i got, what penalty, how much i had to pay, and when the supervision ended.

if nvc ends up needing it i will send it to them, if not i will have one ready for the interview. I already requested a criminal background check information from Illinois Police.
