I-751 - Affidavit?

Hi guys.

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I just would like clarification. According to the notes for the I-751 it says that you may wish to add an affidavit. In most people's experience have you bothered with this? We have plenty of evidence to show the legitimacy of our marriage - all our bills, property contracts, tax returns have our joint married names on it - so I'm just wondering if we should bother. And if we do is it recommended to get the document notarized?

Well, most of the members will say "it is optional" which is, but I included the letters for the peace of mind and had the letters notarized. I think it is up to you..

I didn't put any in my package... we shall see. Was too much of a pain to put them together and get notarized (for us).

I would not bother with affidavits unless you have very little documentation proving that you and your wife live together. Since you stated you have plenty of evidence, you really shouldn't waste any time or effort on this.

We included 4 affidavits along with a lot of evidence. I am sure we included too much proof but I would rather include too much than worry about an RFE.

So you had the people who wrote your affadavits go to a Notary Public and sign them there? Affidavits are optional but notarization is completely unnecessary and won't help your case. I just don't want others to bother with that or think its necessary.

No affidavits for us either. We had a large amount of evidence and supporting documents in our file, we didn't feel it was necessary.

As others have said, if you feel your evidence list is lacking, go ahead and add them in there to bulk up your proof.

Yeah, what is wrong with that? it indicates the formality of the letters, anyone can draft a letter and send, right?
