I've been hearing this rumor for quite sometime, is it true that any person going for immigration interview in VN is going to Thailand? Their office is actually moving to Thailand? Hmmm...

What? I know... but I just wanted to ask and confirm with people who may know something.

reg.ula.tion.me.ooow.2011 // tomcat.fight

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

Thank you Visajourney!

This only effects those wanting to do DCF for a spouse visa. The US Consulate in HCMC will still be there and operate as before.

Thanks Anh map; but what is a DCF.

I am filing an I-130 for my spouse, does that mean future consulate inquiries will head to Thailand?

DCF= Direct Consulate filing.

Where we all would send out petitions here in the states to a certain USCIS office but many citizens live abroad and can't do this so they do a petition at consulates. The USCIS office was closed and merged with the one in Thailand only. The consulate will still be there for everything else.

DCF is when husband and wife both live outside the US.

No, you will go through HCMC.

You should do a lot of reading in this forum to prepare. HCMC is not any easy journey for a visa. You will want to prepare your initial submission for HCMC.

Thank you Luckytxn and Anh map for the clarification. That clears it!

I'll go the normal way and file it here in CONUS in Chicago.

Thank you.
