Hi forum, I am about to send my I-130 to USCIS. And I have a few other evidence of our relationship that I want to send along with the I-130, but I don't want to send more than what's required in the instructions that they'd question our case.

Since I don't have any sort of documentation to show join ownership or property; nor do we have a lease to show joint tenancy of a common residence; nor do we have any co-mingling of financial resources. So is it safe to send stuff like copies of plane tickets, leave requests/approval, and photos of us together?

If anyone could give some advice, I'd appreciate it very much.

reg.ula.tion.me.ooow.2011 // tomcat.fight

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

Thank you Visajourney!

I sent with my petition my marriage certificate and about 15 photos of the marriage. That's it.

I was approved in 77 days.

I did have an arranged marriage though.

You are going through Vietnam, one of the most difficult US embassies there is. You'll be wanting to front load your petition- ie send quite a bit of evidence. It is normal not to have co-mingling of finances or a joint lease as you cannot yet live in the same country, but do send some very solid evidence of a bonafide relationship- proof you have traveled to visit her many times is great!

You might want to check out the Vietnam regional forum here, to talk to others who have gone through this difficult consulate: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/136-vietnam/

You really need to do some extensive reading in the Vietnam regional forum prior to submission. The meat grinder that is the HCMC consulate does not look kindly on thinly assembled petitions.

I sent my marriage certificate, affidavits from both our mothers, stamps from my passport and rail tickets used to get from London to his town, and print outs from facebook with pictures and comments from friends about our wedding, skype call logs and 6 years worth of AIM chat logs. I think its better to give them a little bit too much than not enough, my packet wasn't that big. That being said I wasn't about to send every email/chat we ever sent!

I fully admit to being a relationship evidence hoader!

It's very consulate/country specific as well as others have chimed in this thread as well.

IMO it really does not matter to front load it all that much. That's what the interview is for...

Anything that is frontloaded with the initial submission of the petition automatically becomes part of the file that will be seen by a CO when the file arrives at the Embassy or Consulate.

IMO, the interview is not the time to be submitting evidence for the first time (especially at a Consulate like HCMC). More often than not, it will not be asked for by a CO or it will immediately be given back without a glance if you try to give it to a CO. With that being said, never go to an interview empty handed, always have evidence ready, especially any you compiled since the initial submission of the petition that a CO may ask for.

OP: I wouldn't worry about sending more than what is required to USCIS. The file I sent them can best be described as a phone book.
