AVR updated for documents missing etc. False RFE I am assuming as I got the approval for the AOS packet last night and they received the DS-230 forms Wed. this week.

Don't worry, it is because your DS-230 process hasn't yet started. Once that starts, AVR will change to "Received the documents as per checklist" something like that. From here onwards till your next step AVR is your best friend better than an operator, as AVR gets updated as soon as the DS-230 process starts and the operator doesn't get to know till we have a SIF.

Once the process starts the AVR gets updated with the message, which indicates that it is being processed. Then till SIF, the operator will give us the ####### 20 days ro 6 - 8 weeks....

Operator gets to know only after the process is completed and the system is updated. If there is no RFE, one will get SIF simultaneously. I don't want you to think about a RFE.

After SIF, operator is our only friend to get the interview date details, which depends on each consulate. Of course for us currently it is worthless calling an operator till month-end - two of them told me that first week is our right one to call.

Ok I get it now. So pretty much SIF is our best way of knowing the DS-230 has been accepted/case complete. Then call in to verify with the operators.

Let's hope everything goes good with the DS-230 packet so I can get case closed by the end of the month.

I checked AVR today and it said "NVC received checklist letter response on Aug 19.....it will take 4-6 weeksto review......" What does that means? Is it mean I-864 and DS 230 is accepted? I am little confuse about checklist....

NO, is means that one of your package is incorrect or missing documents, it could be a false RFE. NVC will email you all the information, just check your email daily.

Actually, there are two messages that sound alike.

One is "Checklist response has been received on... plz allow 6-8 weeks...) that is the GOOD one. It means they have started looking at a packet.

The RFE message says "... checklist for items missing has been mailed on [date]..." that's the bad news. That's when you call IMMEDIATELY to find out what to fix & re-send. Don't wait for the email letter b/c it can take a WEEK!!

I too got a False RFE e-mail asking for a checklist cover letter and the IV Packet.

My AOS packet was reviewed and accepted last week and they received the IV packet the same day they reviewed the AOS packet.

I am hoping for case closed by the end of the week next week.

We have had so many criss-cross communications this past week, it feels like a month of headache.

You have had a rough week M. With all those RFE's you still are handling it all pretty well.

We're almost there!

I think Wednesday would be a good day to guess a case closed for me. I hope it's earlier for you.

just wondering why you got an RFE on your DS-230 item# 30?

hubby had lots of lines on that one... and way down on the lowest line, the one which started with his 16th bday... well, he thought "I didn't move to Sweden at 16, I had been there since birth, not my 16th bday" so he just put a dashed line. When I called, they said we had to send a new ds-230 because that first (earliest in time) date had to be his 16th bday, not a line.

Let me know if that didn't make sense. It was such a simple mistake, and the drections are so vague... but, oh well! It added a full week to this process, and I am stressed out about any other ambiguities they might find. I wish it would say "starting with your 16th bday, ..... and then work up to the present date."

Hopefully someone will learn from OUR mistake. -M
