Another day, another "not yet" on the case number.

Today's operator did not try to BS me with a made up time frame, and for that, I thanked him.

He also told me that this is the "busy season" and a lot of petitions come from USCIS after tax season. I guess people get their refunds and pay their filing fees? I don't know. I'd never heard that one before.

Hang in there Tercero!

We didn't receive our case number and invoice number until 14 total days after NVC received the case. I contacted my local senator's office here in town and gave them the privacy release form at 8:30am. By the end of the day my case number was assigned. Not sure if it was affective or not, maybe just coincidence, maybe not. NVC sent me and the stock email the next day saying that they have received my inquiry (from the Senator) and they would let me know in 45 days or something like that...ha!

If the 14 day time line holds then maybe you'll have your number by 15th..maybe! I think others on here had their case numbers sooner than 14 total days after NVC received it.

buena suerte! (good luck!)

Just a heads up to all I am sorry for the short answers and not replying back to some of your messages. I am mostly on mobile phone the past couple days and I will be out of town the next few days for a family wedding. I will try to get back to all the messages and replies when I have a chance next week.

My case was received by NVC on July 29. I learned that fact on August 1st. So far, still no case number assigned. Can't they just assign a number first before scanning the documents into the computer?

I am having a HEADACHE with I-864. I have 3 cases: my husband as primary immigrant and my 2 kids under age 18. Operators are telling me 10 different stories: one said file 3 i-864 another said file i-864w for kids. I am soo confused and my head is pounding.

Plus another told me one way to answer part 21 (4 household size that I know) and another told me to put kids somewhere else. I did not claim the kids on my last tax report because my status was single at the time.

I am so confused and frustrated. The NVC operators cannot help.

Hey, sorry to hear that. I am pretty sure that you need to have 4 (or maybe you have other dependants?) as the total household size. Your kids definitely count, there is you, and there is your husband who will become a member of your household.

As for the kid situation, I imagine there are several ways to go about it. Are you applying for your kids' visas too? Aren't they already US citizens?

Here is maybe a strategy you might try: Choose the option that makes the most sense to you. Then call the NVC and ask them if *that* is OK. If they say yes and you are paranoid, like me, you can call back and get a second opinion. If they say no, then they can maybe help you modify the plan you already have which might make more sense?

Good luck...
