I would love to go but Nursing school would not allow it. I am already in an accelerated program as it is and missing any days would be more than hell to make up.

I was granted a quarter off already to go to India, find my wife (again arranged marriage) and come back in 10 weeks. School will not let me take that kind of time off again.

Our marriage was arranged so we hardly have any documents that most other couples have (life insurance, joint bank accounts etc.) All we have is our wedding pictures, marriage certificate and a bunch of bonafide evidence. Besides that stuff, we can't produce anything else. India consulates understand this though as it is still local custom.

US Consulates in India understand the culture and arranged marraiges. They are looking for continued relationship - logs of emails, online chats & telephone calls, besides what you mentioned above.

With an arranged marriage, wouldn't there also be some people in both families who could sign affidavits? We loaded up our I-130 with 5 affidavits and screen shots of email listings and skype calls, since we have never had the luxury of living together or co-mingling funds.

HAND written letters? Ok - that is too romantic. :) -M.

We only had 2 affidavits but I sent pictures over the span of the relationship and thankfully John has been here for months at a time so we were able to put him on the checking and savings account a long time ago and he was here to sign the lease last year. I did send print offs of all the emails and tickets where he had been here or me there. We take family pictures each yr for the holidays...me and the kids and it's been nice that he's been here for those the last couple yrs so we sent those family pictures of the last 2 years. Like you said it's custom to have arranged marriages so that's not out of the norm.

Yes. I doubt we are going to need them to be honest. We have TONS of bonafide evidence and a lot of pictures with important family members that will be shown at the interview. Lots of important cultural pictures too that really put the icing on the cake.

I am pretty good with words...and poetry and letters is nice way to share that with my wife. :)

Most of us in here should be fine for our interviews. It's the MENA and high fraud countries that you really have to worry about proving everything.

Yes, we all have those (affidavits) as those are possible with arranged marraiges. In addition I got my wife to be the 100% prime beneficiary of my 401K and 50% secondary beneficiary of my father's 401K (this can be done by all who have a 401K). Since I just move to a new place on starting job, I could add my wife to the lease. I tried to add her to my checking/ savings account in vain. Of course I have the itineraries of my and my family trips to India. I guess these are sufficient for Chennai, which is strict.

If something else can be done, just throw in your ideas.

WOW! I am so glad I looked at the AOS e-mail that was sent to me this morning. They had my wife's mail address wrong! I just had NVC correct that. It must say it was funny though to listen to the guy struggle and butcher saying the address back to me to confirm it was correct. lol

Oh - one more idea- I did screen shots from FB from when our friends reacted to our engagement and marriage. I figured it showed how public we were about what we were up to, and how supportive everyone was/is. This was in lieu of anouncements or invitation cards... since we basically eloped in Gibraltar.

For the folks who had their choice of agent form accepted yesterday can you touch base on here when you are invoiced for the IV bill. Since the last time I waited for the AOS bill for 2.5 weeks I just want to make sure I'm not falling through the cracks lol. If you guys get yours than hopefully mine won't be far behind :) Paranoia is setting in!

Still waiting on case number.

My heart skipped a beat when after the operator took my receipt number, she asked for beneficiary's birthday. Then my heart plummeted when she said, "Oh wait, you don't have a case number yet."

Then she said to expect something in 6-8 WEEKS!!!!!!! Panicked, I asked, "What happened to 10-15 business days?" She asked, "Oh, who told you that?" EVERYONE I'VE SPOKEN WITH EVERYDAY I'VE CALLED SINCE JULY 28.

I'm panicked!

The NVC is processing in about 30-35 days lately. Just keep on top of them and be ready to pay fees and mail stuff when they say. It's frustrating, but the end is in sight.
