NBI Clearance Update

Please forgive my ignorance, but for what purpose(s) does one need multiple original copies of the NBI clearance?

Thanks!

Different things, different times. A Filipino might answer better than I, but I know my asawa had to have one for getting her visa, her passport, and some land documents put in her name. I think the PI uses NBI clearance a lot more frequently than the US does.

the validity of the nbi certificate is 1 year starting from the date it was issued..

a friend told me that if i get the very recent nbi certificate to show the embassy it will be alot smoother like there will be no questions regarding on my papers.so i planned that im going to get my nbi 2 weeks before my interview, i decided to get it on july 7 and that was yesterday....so i went to the nbi (davao) to get an nbi certificate but i was surprised coz the releasing waiting time will take 3 weeks. and ill be needing that certificate by july 18 lol. :bonk: ugh i didnt know that the nbi was changing there system thats why its taking too long than the usual..

rylin: I have the same problem. I went to get my NBI Clearance yesterday (July 7) & unfortunately my name has a "hit". They asked to go back on July 27 for the release. My interview is scheduled on the 18th. When I called NBI yesterday, the lady suggested I go to the NBI main office (Taft Ave., Manila) to talk to Special Concerns about expediting the 'clearing' process.

So today, I went to NBI UN Ave. & inquired about my problem. There was a lot of people there lining up for the NBI Clearance. I was able to go inside since I showed the receipt from yesterday. But the man I spoke to said I can just show the receipt during my interview since USEM is aware of the transitions/changes happening at the NBI. According to him, there was nothing more they can do to help me speed up the process.

During this time, I informed my fiancee of what was happening & he called USEM to verify. The representative told him I can still attend my interview while waiting for my NBI Clearance (I have the receipt s proof of payment). I just have to inform the CO about it & wait for further instructions on how to submit afterwards. Hopefully everything goes well. :innocent:

At least you have an older NBI clearance to show, mine already expired years ago. Already done with my medical exam too, as stated in my signature.

My interview is also 6:45 am on the 18th. Good luck too! :star:

Is the same thing happening in victory mall branch of NBI? I got my NBI from victory mall since I got a "hit" when I went to get it from Las Pinas City Hall, they asked me to come back after 10 business days. Instead, I went to victory mall and I got it after 3 days. I just need to pay another 115 for another application.

ugh...just want to share something. i HATE this nbi clearance. it was such a waste of my time. i had to go back three times to that place, fall in line for half a day and all that #######. when i finally get it, they mispelled my name, and tell me that i had to get another one with the correct spelling after 2 wks. luckily, my mom knew someone who knew someone who knew someone who got it for me after 3 days.

really...the government offices in this country are so crappy. but anyway...good luck to everyone getting their documents! :D

My Fiance' lives in Caloocan City. She went to get her nbi clearance a few days ago and she said there was a very long line. It ended up with them closing and telling people to come back the next day.

Some people waited a couple xtra hours because they thought the office was just closing for lunch. She went back the next day at 3:00 am, stood in line for hours and I think she left at about 1:00 pm with her clearance in hand.

I had read on VJ that if your clearance says "No criminal record", That is actually a problem. Judy had a previous clearance and I asked what it said. Her"s said "no derogatory record". So I did some research to find out what that meant.

What I came up with is this.

If you had no record at all and applied for an original clearance ( your first clearance) it would say "no record"

If you had no record at all and you renewed your clearance it would say "no derogatory record"

The one she got a few days ago says "no record" I guess because it is not considered a renewal this time?

I believe if it says "No criminal record", that implies that you had some sort of civil problem like being sued over a land dispute or something. If it says "No criminal record" then the Embassy will want some sort of documentation explaining what the problem was.

I just talked to her and she said she got hers at the main office of NBI which is close to the embassy

Their site says 10 days, but they asked me to claim it after 14 days! I applied for one at Robinson's Galleria & was now to be claimed/released at NBI Taft!

I decided to reschedule my interview just because of this. Sure, I could have gone ahead with the interview but thinking about the additional delay (I've read some to-follow/additional docs situations that took a month!)it will cost me afterwards, rescheduling was my best option.
