Looking at the numbers.. Vermont is working on early April so under 4 months for much of the new approvals right? When I first started watching the USCIS timelines Vermont was at six months... they have improved quite a bit.. California has put the afterburners on in the past few months and has really shortened the wait times.

None of this matters at present though as any time saved at USCIS is just padded to the wait to get to NVC.. I finished a month ahead of what I was projecting (four months instead of five) and then had to wait 30 days for NVC to receive my paperwork from California. All that extra effort in getting NOA2s just created a backlog of approved a petitions with nowhere to go.. Vermont has not had the increased wait times to NVC until recently.. There is still a disadvantage to going through Vermont but not as much as it initially appears..

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Also i was just wondering to ask other june filers how many times their application was touched thus far? It seems that our application was touched 3 times and was wondering if that means an rfe or anything of that sort. Good luck to all and may i say how lucky those of you that didnt have to file at Vermont are!!

Mine was touched only once, not sure what it really means. It's probably nothing.

At first I was clueless on this visa slang but found out along the way "touched" means how many times your application was handled, whether that means moved from one shelf to the other or actual work performed on it. I was just wondering about that mostly I see on average applications are "touched" twice while at the service centers, and I was a bit alarmed seeing my application "touched" 3 times. I just hope that it does not scream out loud "RFE coming my way". oh well at this point i'll just wait and see.

Nice to know they are working on June. I have no idea if mine has been touched. It has never shown up in the system. I called Monday, they do have it and even admit some just never show up in tracking supposedly due to backlog. I have read here some are trackable the day they get noa1 and some are already at thier interview before it's trackable. Just my luck probably. But anyway, I hope everyone has a smooth journey. Jim.

Initially i had the same problem with tracking the case. I received NOA 1 and it clearly indicated a case #, however when i tried to login on the USCIS website it said that my case # was not valid (or some error of the kind i dont recall the exact wording) i called the 1-800 # and explained the problem, they transferred me to another department that deals with this and explained it again to the customer service rep. She said that they will flag the application and within a few days it should be resolved. To be honest with you after reading some similar stories on VJ i thought i will be just another unlucky person whose case will never show up. I cannot say how surprised i was to see that indeed within 3 days after my call my case number was recognized by their system. I would recommend you to try to call again, (and again if necessary) there is no reason why the status of your case should not be available, i think it all depends on getting a chance to talk with a knowledgeble person in there and they will fix it, unfortunatelly many of their cust service reps are not trained to think outside the box and do not know what to do when they encounter a problem that may not have been part of their training. Good luck and keep us posted if you call again and get the issue resolved.

On the other hand i just learned via the VJ posts that the total amount of time it takes to process an application is 20 minutes, beats me why we are waiting months to get this noa2.

Also as an additional thought to my previos reply i think its such bogus to give you the " backlog" story as an excuse. They identify each case not by our names but by the case #, and although i find govermental institutions to not have the latest technology available i am pretty sure to the very least they do keep these case #'s ordered in a electronic format database ( i think they upgraded from the pen and paper to the very least) so i believe that once you get a case # assigned you are automatically part of their internal database and in order to have this number accesibke by you on their website it may be a simple check option in their system which would make your case available not just internally but also externally by you. As mentioned before call them again, just as the rest of us you paid their fee and therefore you should be made available to the same information as the rest.

As far as that June case receiving an NoA 2 i think it is an exception the same way someone recently got an noa 2 and applied back in october of 2010, most of us are not the lucky big lottery win type of people to resemble the lucky june case, i think it safe to say that in terms of luck in such things i am the lucky / unlucky average Joe and am not optimistic of getting through this step as flawless, but let us also hope we are not that very unlucky exception that got their noa 2 after 8 months.
