What are the reasons one would be denied?

While the pay stubs are good to have, the downside to not having a letter from the employer is that the consulate will not know whether or not this job is a permanent thing. For all they know, she could only be working for a few months. She can't prove that she will have this job for a long period of time.

Agreed and very seldom (if ever?) has Montreal been interested in what the Cdn has in their bank account. Yes, your Cdn cash would be enough to live on while waiting on your GC probably, but that's not the point. The I-134 instructions specifically indicate proof is required from the Bank, Employer etc.

They want solid proof that your USC spouse-to-be can support you and you will not become a burden on the US system so it would be difficult for them to approve when they don;t have sufficient proof.

So, I will be denied right away then....

Isn't there a way I can tell them I will get her to get the owner/boss to write something up, explaining she will be here for a while, etc and fax/mail it ASAP? I know the answer is probably no..

We have did so much work on this the last 10 months, countless hours of headaches filling all these documents out and I've spent quite a bit of money(like you all know how much it is everything all together), it just seems like everything is now a waste :(

I'm talking with my Angela, she is thinking about getting him(boss) to write something tomorrow morning and fax it to me possibly at the hotel I'm staying at(if they have one). Would the embassy accept this as legit proof?

That shouldn't be a problem.

Thing is, if they're not happy with the income you will NOT be denied outright, they WILL give you a chance to get the info together so if it's not good enough they'll tell you they can't issue it right now and ask you for more info. Then you'll send the new info, and get your visa not much longer thereafter. It's okay, they won't just say no and leave it at that. You WILL be given a chance to present more. Canada isn't a high fraud country, it's not as bas as you think it's going to be.

Trust me, you'll be back here after your interview wondering what you were so worried about.

Yup. Worst case scenario they will tell you to obtain that missing info and to complete your application by mail. Be aware you additional proof will sit in the mail room for a while and it will delay your visa issuance by 4 to 6 weeks and it will be mandatory for you to use DHL at this point. It happened to me as my medical wasn't ready and I had to mail it.

Well, that's obviously better than straight up denied and lose everything we worked so hard on. Still it's our goal for tuesday to be a success. Thank you for replies :)

Right - they generally allow you a chance to try to provide whatever is missing, not the end of the world at all. Many of us have had to provide some kind of additional evidence and then the VISA was granted.

What Consular Officers know with certainty is that there is no such thing as a permanent job. I've seen lots of people get approved with pay stubs instead of employer letters and I personally find them more compelling evidence than employer letters. With her income and your cash, I wouldn't expect a problem with the public charge concern in Montreal.

I understand there's no guarantee that ANYONE will have their job a day/week/month from now. I was simply saying that's the benefit of employee letters - knowing what the person's status is within the company.

A pay stub bearing the employer's company name indicates "employed" by the company, how much they make per pay period and year to date and is usually more "current" than an employer letter. In my experience, employer letters are no substitute for pay stubs.

I know what a pay stub includes.

I didn't say an employer letter would substitute the pay stubs, either.

I simply said since the OP does not have any tax returns, the MORE evidence they can come up with, the better. An employer letter as well as pay stubs would be better than just the pay stubs, IMO.
